Is it just me or do they seem way more preoccupied

with car jackings in urban spaces than with mass shootings everywhere?

The magic trick is when the magician makes the money in the middle of the table disappear. What he says, what he does before that, what he does with his other hand, none of that matters other than that it distracts from the actual trick. A completely different routine would work just as well, the magician says and does whatever works to distract and let him pull off the heist.

Next election, when federal troops are in major blue cities intimidating voters, or worse, it will hardly matter that once upon a time, the pretext for federal troops had something to with whatever excuse they came up with.
