It really is disturbing how much certain leftists romanticize the French Revolution. It was NOT a good time in history, it symbolized mob mentality at its absolute worst. Here are a few highlights from it that people like this DUmmy conveniently forget to mention:
1. Not just those evil greedy rich aristocrats, but THEIR ENTIRE FAMILIES, INCLUDING THEIR CHILDREN, were beheaded. The deranged mobs would then cheer as each severed head was hoisted up, again including the children's severed heads.
2. Innumerable women were raped.
3. Priests and monks were hacked to death for no reason at all.
4. Churches and monasteries, some of them centuries old, were desecrated and burned.
5. Then, there was the truly hideous fate of the Princess Lamballe. She was a kind, virtuous woman who had been a childhood friend of Marie Antoinette. She was captured and brought before Robespierre and his cronies, where they put her on trial on trumped- up charges, and demanded on pain of death that she declare her hatred of the deposed king and queen, and pledge her allegiance to the new government that would be built in France. She agreed to the latter of the two conditions, but not the former, on the grounds that she knew Marie and Louis, and loved them both. Enraged at this, Robespierre had the Princess Lamballe thrown into the streets, where the feral mobs gang- raped her before literally tearing her limb from limb. One of her legs was shot out of a cannon. A man took her heart to his bakery, cooked it, and ate it. Her severed head and genitals were stuck on poles and held just outside the window of Marie Antoinette's dungeon cell, while the mob mockingly shouted for the ex- queen to "Kiss your lover!"
This is the sort of thing that the DUmmies romanticize and seek to bring about here in the US.
