2008 (950 posts) Thu Sep-11-08 05:46 AMOriginal message Late to the discussion, I know, but here's what one McCain supporter thought of the lipstick uproar It was at a small party Tuesday night. (This particular group, made up of people with differing political views, rarely discusses politics). The TV was on, muted. The biggest McCain supporter there saw the "pig lipstick" story splashed on the screen, and had to speak out."That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen," he said, disgusted.Someone asked if he actually thought Obama was trying to insult Palin."Of course not," he replied, irritated. "It's so obvious Obama wasn't talking about Palin. Everyone who claims he was talking about her is lying, and everyone else knows they're lying.""Who?" his wife asked. "Who's lying about it?" (His wife is a lifetime Republican who does not follow the news or politics at all -- doesn't care the slightest about anything political. She just shows up every four years to pull the lever for the red team because she thinks they're going to lower her taxes and outlaw abortion.)"Everyone who's saying it," he replied. "All these Republicans on the news who keep pretending Obama insulted Palin with the 'lipstick on a pig' comment. They're acting like idiots."(I didn't point out that McCain himself said it, too, but that's because I didn't know McCain said it until I saw the clip of him saying it the next day. I sure hope the loud Republican saw it to, and knows now that McCain is one of the idiots he was complaining loudly about.)The whole uncomfortable tirade was kind of a wet blanket until someone changed the subject. But it was really a boost for me, hearing the most ardent Republican in the room express his disgust over anyone who would believe or circulate the lipstick lie.If he's that disgusted, then I know a lot of other McCain supporters are, too. And since the Republicans keep stoking the flames, this guy and a lot of other disgusted McCain supporters will get to hear that McCain is one of the idiots stoking those flames.

The media is manipulating us, assuming we want this crap, and a lot of people I know (democrats and republicans)are sick of it. Maybe the news corporations will start to listen. And then maybe pigs with lipstick will fly!

Hey, Little Goons:What O'Byebye meant isn't nearly as important as the poor judgment he used by saying such a thing in the first place. Speaking of pigs, has anyone offered O'Byebye a BLT to see if he will eat it?
