Final score: Obama wins the day -- Politico

TUESDAY, Sept. 9 -- Final Score: Obama wins the day
By John F. Harris and Jim VandeHei

For perhaps the first time since the Republican convention, the Democrats actually seemed to be the more energetic ticket today. Starting off with a hard-hitting speech on education policy, Obama spent the day going after McCain on subjects both foreign and domestic, using President Bush’s announcement of upcoming troop withdrawals from Iraq as an opening to attack the “Bush-McCain record.” And when Sarah Palin repeated her claim to opposing the “Bridge to Nowhere,” the Obama campaign marshaled media fact-checking reports to question the Republican’s credibility.

McCain and Palin didn’t have a bad day, either, but five days after the end of the Republican convention the media honeymoon is starting to fade. McCain-Palin’s current strategy of making joint appearances to tout their “maverick” label seems effective so far, but at some point in the near future they’ll need a second act.

Turning point?? Yes, I think so. The latest polling is suggesting that as well. Looks like Obama is getting his mojo back and McCain/Palin are coming back to earth. Whew!

Tomorrow the headlines will still be about Palin being called a pig and Obama will still be stammering trying to pretend that wasn`t what he meant.

Can he "denounce" himself? Cuz I think that's the only option!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Since his new attack mode I honestly think he is honor bound to fire himself from the campaign.

Wishful thinking.  Neither party made big news today, so everything pretty much was a wash with both playing to their galleries.  If anything Obama stepped in the doodoo a bit with that "pig" crack.

Let's review:  Obama - no bounce from Biden or convention.  Fund rising efforts are reportedly falling behind and he may have to stop campaigning to beg big doners for cash.  McCain has cause Obama to go fully and directly on the attack - which he said he would never do and has been his most consistant message of the past 18 plus months.

McCain: Huge lift (called a bounce but you and I both know that he's not coming back down) from Palin & convention.  Getting flooded with cash from his previously unhappy base as well as new cash due to energy over Palin.  Everything the Dems throw at Palin comes back to bite them and they have now tried to smear her so bad if they actually turn something up nobody will believe them.

Obama wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Obama wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Obama wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been reading DU for days now watching, looking, for news of Chimpeachment.  The entire idea seems to have vanished from the DU table.  It saddens me.  I love the Chimpeachment dream.

How sad for them.  That is one issue that has no legs and keeps bread fresh.  No one, not even Noone, cares.

Would this be the Obama that just called all women pigs?

So sorry DUchebags, the Obama lost this day by his own doing by about 8 points with women.  He is just probably too smarterer for them.

It's funnier than hell to actually HEAR Obama speak then read about it in a publication.  They leave out ALL the stuff you just included.  Editors must HATE schlepping through his video.

Considering that Teh BarackStar!'s name is at the top of the ticket; no, I don't think he can throw himself under the Bus.  But it sure would be fun to watch him try.
