In the real world, the Ukraine offensive has been slowly but steadily hammering through the Russian orcs' line
s of defense, threatening to cut off the land reinforcement and supply route to the Crimean Peninsula. The Ukrainians have punched a salient toward the Melitopol-Mariupol area of the Black Sea coast, broadening it while advancing, so as to make it very difficult to pinch off the salient. The Ukrainians' effort to broadent the salient is teaching the orcs the down-side of entrenchments, that trenches are vulnerable to flank attacks.
Also in the real world, Ukraine is making progress around Bakhmut and farther north, forcing on the Russian orcs a choice between losing significant ground there by moving troops away or keeping troops in place while losing ground in all locations. WRT Bakhmut, Russian painfully bloody and small advances there were toward an area of Ukraine of little strategic value. OTOH, Ukrainian advances threaten Lysychansk-Severodonetsk and Luhansk - major cities - as well as the transportation networks in that area.
False premise, false conclusions. Ukraine's current offensive is far from failing. Ukraine is advancing, and the Russian orcs are struggling, unsuccessfully.
Why any conservative would hate on Ukraine, given the past 90 years or so of Soviet and Russian history of starving and oppressing Ukraine eludes me.
Why any conservative would be OK with Putin conquering parts of Georgia and the Crimean Peninsula and Donets Basin regions of Ukraine as part of rebuilding the Soviet empire eludes me. 240
