This is my first discussion thread. I volunteer in our state's largest food pantry.

A family of 4 (Mom, Dad, toddler and infant) WALKED to our food pantry last week from Minneapolis to Bloomington Minnesota. That’s like 13 miles one way. It was less than 10 degrees Fahrenheit outside. They walked to get food, with their kids, in the freezing cold.

After my volunteer shift, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few items. The man behind me was mouthing off about poor people getting all the “freebies” in life. I told him loudly to STFU. People were shocked (I am a gray haired mild looking suburban woman).

One woman smiled and started clapping. Made my day.

Why? Lurking DUmmies, why do you feel the urge to make up these ridiculous stories? This didnt happen. No family of 4, with a toddler and infant in tow, walked 13 miles to your imaginary pantry. There was no man moaning about freebies. There was no woman who cracked a smile and started clapping.

As far as you screaming STFU at a perfect stranger, for God knows what reason? That IS plausible.

Because they can't bitch about the food prices that are a consequence of the way they vote, and are due to policies of the people they vote for.

Ok, this story makes zero sense.  She went to the store after her shift and someone in line starts talking about poor people getting free stuff?  What the hell?

Unless she was buying stuff with her EBT card ... items a lot of folks see as extravagant.

Yeah. The level of "coincidence" that these tales require is absolutely breath taking. Is it possible? Sure. Anything is possible. The problem is the probability.

I do love it when a random Island Rat comes along and drops the seeds of doubt.

Someone was randomly complaining about poor people getting freebies, seemingly out of the blue, totally unprompted?

Probably walking to the food pantry because they can't afford food or gas due to Brandon's inflation.

23. Finally

Got some clapping in there.

I was worried people had forgotten the art of applauding at the end.

Whew. Faith restored.
   :lmao:

All the other DUmmies were, of course, lapping it up and showering Nanuke with praise.  I, for one, would also like to shower Nanuke with praise for pointing out the utter despair, hardship, and grinding poverty the Biden regime has created.  Families can no longer afford food or anything else, and so must trudge 13 miles in life-endangering temperatures, with tiny children strapped to their backs, for a crust of bread.

Thanks Joe!

OK which one of you is nanuke? In the desert of quality bouncys of the past 7 years, I give that bouncy 2 bongs, would have been 3 by adding "So..." and of course 4 bongs if it had been during a republican presidency.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Forgot the part where the family trudging in 10 deg weather (due to global warming) had to step over the drug addicts, needles and human feces to get to the food pantry.  :cheersmate:

27. I'm so glad I don't live in an area like that. I read about these incidents all the time here.

Oddly, these things never happen to me or to anyone I know. Cashiers never comment on politics, no one in line goes on a political rant...just another boring day in the grocery for me.

I have seen a woman buy groceries for two people in front of her, and it happened in my red little town.

Proud Democrat here, and there are more than a few of us here. In the meantime, I've never met nicer people - whatever their party.

I dont know if I should cry from laughing so hard, or puke.  :lmao:
