RAB910 (2,409 posts)the right-wing fentanyl lie exposedFOX News and the rest of the fascist propaganda network had their followers shaking in fear over the claims that kids were going to be killed by fentanyl being handed out as candy. Where are all the stories of this happening?!?!It's funny I was talking to my Fox News-watching father, and he raised the issue yesterday afternoon. I told him the story was utter nonsense and told him why. Two things:what was the point of the lie the fascists propagandized? How is it that my father can literally see that he is being lied to and yet he continues to believe them over people who tell the truth?https://www.democraticunderground.com/100217307013
I don't recall conservative media making a big deal out of this other than to state it was a possibility because of fentanyl being smuggled in as candy.
Parents are being warned that fentanyl is now being disguised as candy after laced pills were seized in Connecticut. The DEA says there are rainbow-colored fentanyl pills that are being sold on the streets that appear to look like candy. Some of the pills are even being packaged in Skittles and Nerds wrappers. “And we know now, the DEA says, that 40 percent of the pills contain a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl,” said Derek Maltz, a former DEA special operations director, during an appearance on Fox News’s Fox & Friends.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Association (DEA) is urging parents to be aware of rainbow fentanyl, a deathly opioid that drug traffickers are using to “drive addiction amongst kids and young adults,” DEA administrator Anne Milgram said in a statement. In August alone, the DEA and law enforcement seized the brightly-colored tablets in 18 states....“Rainbow fentanyl is a drug in the form of a pill or powder that is brightly colored to look like candy and appeal to children and young people,” explains Danelle Fisher, M.D., F.A.A.P., pediatrician and chair of pediatrics at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA. The DEA added that it’s also sold in blocks that resemble sidewalk chalk....Ahead of Halloween, local authorities are warning parents to keep a close eye on trick-or-treat baskets, as just two milligrams of fentanyl, which is equal to 10-15 grains of table salt, is considered a lethal dose, per the DEA.“Any candy-looking substance will get a lot of attention as Halloween nears, so parents should be on the lookout and kids should be reminded never to eat unpackaged candy without having parents inspect it first,” adds Dr. Fisher.
