I went off at Walgreens. It is getting impossible to
get anything done right.

My dog takes phenol barbitol . My vet writes a prescription for 2 bottles of 100 pills each. I buy 1 bottle at a time.

Walgreens never has enough so they always split it and give me enough for 1 month at a time. It costs me more.
The problem comes when I go to refill the 2nd half. Doing it the way they do runs the refill date out. And i have to get another prescription. It's a long weekend. My vet won't be in until Tuesday. This about the 4th t8me this has happened.

If they had filled it right there wouldn't be a problem. They just kept saying they couldn't do anything becayse it's a controlled substance. They couldn't even give me enough to make it through the weekend.

I had just had it. I just went off. Now I am probably the Karen of rhe day.

CVS ordered me a whole bottle . I have enough to stretch to Tuesday by giving the dog less wach time so hopefully we will make it.

No more Walgreens.

Everything has just gotten so damn difficult.

Translation: I steal my dog's phenol, because it's easier to get a dog prescription than one for me, because I am a doctor-shopping junkie.

26. Phenobarbital is a controlled substance.

So, the pharmacy has to take specific precautions to prevent it from hitting the black market. That's the source of your problem. It's not prescribed much for humans any longer, so most pharmacies either have just a small supply or don't stock it at all.

Talk to your vet about the problem and see if he or she has some suggestions for a pharmacy that is more likely to maintain a stock of it for veterinary prescriptions.

But, the person working the counter at the Walgreen's prescription area can't change anything for you. So, losing it at the counter won't help your situation much, I'm afraid. Again, talk to your vet about the issue. You should get some suggestions that way.

"Stop taking your dog's medicine, you liberal junkie skank" is what the vet should say.

I just don't understand why the DUpipo have to run to the DUmp with every little thing. Here, leftylady ADMITS that she threw a tantrum and screamed at some poor minimum wage employee, and doesn't even have enough self-awareness to keep it to herself. I would be so ashamed I'd never want anyone to know.

Well, she's got only her fellow primitives to blame.

If her pals weren't always trying to abuse, misuse, and overuse these controlled substances, maybe there wouldn't be such a strong necessity to keep controls over their distribution.

Making a guess at what Walgreens (W) is doing:

* Barbiturates are an addictive controlled drug; so there are extra hoops for W to jump through and maybe restrictions in dispensation thereof;

* It’s already common practice for pharmacies to only dispense single-month supplies of whatever prescription drug;

* W’s pharmacist can see the prescriber is a veterinarian, but short of burning time to validate the prescription, the pharmacist has to trust that it is real;

* W’s pharmacist also has no way to verify that llfm isn’t skimming her dog’s meds to supplement other sources.

IF the whole barbiturates-for-dog narrative is real, it may be to control seizures or something similar.
