Blogging greatness is out there, and WEEI.com is intent on finding it.
WEEI.com has committed itself to serving as THE destination when it comes to Boston sports news, entertainment, and opinion, and part of that journey includes seeking out the Next Great Sports Blogger.
To facilitate this quest, WEEI.com will be running an unprecedented contest which will ultimately land two winners with the opportunity to blog on our web site while being paid $5,000 per year. This is Star Search. This is American Idol. This is WEEI.com’s search for the Next Great Sports Blogger.
Starting on Sept. 2, contestants who believe they have the blogging chops can submit a sample post on WEEI.com. Entries can be up to 500 words and should focus on the Boston sports scene, reflecting the author’s wit, creativity, sports knowledge and unique perspective in a piece of work that will stand out from a sea of candidates. The deadline for submissions will be Sept. 30.
A panel of judges, including WEEI Sports Radio on-air talent such as Gerry Callahan, Michael Holley, Mike Felger, other Boston sports media icons and athletes, and WEEI.com site editor Rob Bradford, will help narrow down the field to the 10 best bloggers. Starting Oct. 15, the finalists will go through a final round of challenges, and the WEEI.com readers will vote to determine who is better than the rest and has what it takes to be the best.
Ultimately the groups will be narrowed down, with the listeners of WEEI Sports Radio following along each step of the way, until two winners are each chosen as the “The Next Great Sports Blogger,†along with the chance to write a weekly blog for WEEI.com starting January 2009.
