With all the modern communications technology...?

...how is Putin able to shut off information in a country as big as Russia?

That is amazing to me and I wonder how effective he really is?

There were protests and demonstrations in over 50 Russian cities yesterday, with reports of about 5000 protestors arrested.

Some people got the message.

However, it has also been reported that the majority of Russians believe the so-called "war" in Ukraine is "fake news". They support the "peacekeeping" mission in Ukraine.

If it sounds familiar to Donald Trump's America, it is not because Putin copied Trump's propaganda methods and his "alternative reality", it is because Trump copied Putin.

... similar where people shut off common sense and realities.

Russia can't shut off all communications to outside world and has failed at it seeing there are tons of other platforms other than US and Chinese SM resources Russian people can go to.

Reality will hit Russians like a brick by the end of the month far and wide the economic and war impact wont be able to be hidden.

There's a lot of suffering going on due to the dark forces from Putin and Trump

Even Russians who aren't getting informed at all are getting more accurate info than the primitives. Just like American domestic news, leftists will believe anything that supports what they have already decided to believe and dismiss the rest.

     Sadly true. I don't believe all Russian soldiers are in bad shape, I don't believe the Russian air force is that inept, and I think the only reason the Ukranians are going toe-to-toe with them is that Putin hasn't truly unleashed hell. As for leftists, they do not care what happens so long as there is someone on Twitter to hear them blame Trump. There is a segment of the Moron Class in this country that is perfectly content to die of radiation poisoning just so their last words can be a sarcastic remark about Donald Trump. Imagine your life being so empty that you live each moment hoping that the next moment is the last, so long as it's the last for everyone.

Does kt understand that Bluetooth and wireless routers have very limited range? Copper wire and fiber-optics are still a essential elements in bringing the Internet into homes, and the Russian government controls those. As for radio and TV, the USSR jammed western radio, so Putin could just dust off those jammers, assuming they were ever shut down.

     Sadly true. The claims about Russian Air Force losses definitely sound exaggerated, but from what I've heard, they are having to fly low (probably because of technological limitations), and are thus getting hit by shoulder-launched missiles and the like.

It would be easy to cut off a large swath of internet access by Putin explaining to those who operate the backbone servers with some quality gulag time in Siberia. The data comes in to Russia at a few specific points to its backbone and closing down those endpoints would effectively shut down 90% or more of it's internet.
