Report: Kicker dismissed by Georgia team for being a girl

Kacy Stuart has the leg to be a prospective high school place-kicker in Georgia.

Problem is, the administration of the Georgia Football League, the association for private-school teams in the state, said the 14-year-old freshman can't play because she's a girl, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

According to the girl's mother, Kacy was dismissed from the New Creation Center Crusaders, a private Christian academy in McDonough, Ga., as team photos were being shot, even after she had practiced with the team for two months.

"We'll file for an injunction if we have to," Angie Stuart said Friday, according to the Atlanta newspaper. "We'll do whatever it takes to keep her on the team."

Kacy had participated in drills and even a scrimmage last Saturday before executive board chairman Hank St. Denis discovered a girl was playing on one of the teams in the private school league, Kacy's mother said.

In many private Christian schools, the boys are still required to treat women like ladies, even to do the kind of old-fashioned things like opening doors.  It's tough to require that all day, then tell them it's OK to knock one over or kick her by accident during sports that night...especially on a school-sponsored team.

It is still important to some of us to acknowledge and respect the difference in the sexes.  It honors God's plan and keeps the sexes equal.  There is no benefit to merging the sexes and pretending everyone is equal for the same reasons.  In fact, it is absurd and it is a lie.

I don't know free...I think you are dismissing this idea too quickly





On a serious note, I agree with Mrs. S. The message is very confusing in a sport that at its very core is aggressive towards the opposing players.

Oddly enough, there was a WNFL for a short time (a season or two) in the 90's.  Pensacola, FL had one of the teams.  I went to one to see what the fuss was over.  that was the largest (in more ways than one) collection of bull dykes I have ever actually witnessed.  Seriously, I wouldn't have wanted to run into those women in a dark alley.
