I thought they were going to ask me to leave Kroger yesterday.  One of their workers followed me around with a box of masks and when I stopped to grab some bread he asked me if I had a mask.  I told him, no.  He raised one up to me and said here.  He was cheerful and friendly.  I politely declined by simply telling him I was ok.
He told me it was required in the store so I asked "are you asking me to leave the store?"  He said "I didn't say that, but a mask is required in the store."  I asked again if he was asking me to leave the store and he replied again that he was not.  After a third round like that I said "Ok, well I have to finish my shopping so I can get back to work", and I did.  I got all the stuff I needed and checked out without another person saying anything to me.
I did stay socially distanced the whole time I was shopping, I don't mind doing that even when people aren't freaked out.
