michelle obama's speech text

Lets start with the first lie:

Quote
And you know, what struck me when I first met Barack was that even though he had this funny name, even though he'd grown up all the way across the continent in Hawaii, his family was so much like mine.

His name was "Barry" at the time, you liar.

And his family was mixed, whereas yours awas middle class climbing Blacks who were working the system to get you, a not very intelligent person,  degrees free from any academic attack (such as little things like "statistical sampling" and "grammar."

Quote
And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children - and all children in this nation - to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
And for White people to pay for them.

Shit -- anyone who didn't know this was a cynical attempt to "clarify" her "I was for the first time I was proud of my country" statement is brain dead.

This was preaching to the choir.

And that last bit with "Daddy where are you" was just pandering.

I thought her entire speech was lame, patronizing, phoney, and a failure at her attempt to "soften" her.

Michelle Obama Quotes Saul Alinsky In Her DNC Convention Speech

What to make of Michelle Obama's use the terms, “The world as it is” and “The world as it should be?” From whence do they originate? Try Chapter 2 of Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals. In last night's speech, Michelle Obama said something that piqued my curiousity. She said:

Quote
"Barack stood up that day," talking about a visit to Chicago neighborhoods, "and spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about “The world as it is” and “The world as it should be..."

And, "All of us driven by a simple belief that the world as it is just won’t do – that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be."

Here’s an excerpt from Chapter 2 of Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals:

Quote
"The means-and-ends moralists, constantly obsessed with the ethics of the means used by the Have-Nots against the Haves, should search themselves as to their real political position. In fact, they are passive — but real — allies of the Haves…The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means... The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be."

Did anyone notice that occasionally her "accent" became a bit southern?

This is a woman who grew up in Chicago, has always lived north of the Mason-Dixon line. I grew up in the midwest....I never had a hint of a southern accent until I'd lived here for years( I've been in the south, 31+)

It was a phony as could be....but it certainly would make her appear more a southern black as opposed to northern black person during certain parts of her speech.

Kind of reminded me when Hillary was speaking in a primarily black congregation church and she suddenly developed a southern accent.

Certainly doesn't give much credit to a southern person that they can't tell the difference.

Almost as phony as Hillary's southern accent/tears/caring for the "little people"...

I am working on my drawl -- I do remember the first time I said I was "fixin'" to do something (when I was on an assignment in Texas).  The whole room burst into laughter.

You are, of course, right. This is an attempt to erase shellie's prior stupid comments by making her, as Rush pointed out, a Stepford Wife.

Her speech was 100% BS and did NOT undo her prior comments.

Juan Williams had tears in his voice/eyes last night when asked what he thought of the speech.

He did have a point when he said to see a black woman up there on the podium speak to the nation regarding her husband running for president was an incredibly moving event for him.

And I agree with him. It was an historical event.

It was just sad to see that not only did it not change my opinion of her as an individual, but she was not believable in what she had to say.

I'd believe Oprah Winfrey before I would believe Michelle Obama.
