A little birdie told me that streets were closed off within over a mile of the venue beforehand.  Yet Friday night traffic was lighter than normal despite that "massive throng".

I'm sure various PACs and donors bought blocks of tickets in a sort of grey-market money-laundering deal.

Yep, tickets sold is not the same as people in seats. Might have been some union purchases as well as PACs and wealthy donors.
