Flew into Barbados two nights ago

At the airport in Barbados, waiting for our luggage, which took forever. This guy starts talking to me. He is from Missouri. I tell him I am from Washington, D.C. So he goes off on how they love everything that Trump is doing. They love him, he can do no wrong. I am standing here trying to remain polite. All I managed to get out of me was that there was still going to be a huge price to pay for what he is doing. But I walked away from this conversation, on Barbados, again seriously concerned about the overall IQ of American voters. He guy was not brash, he did not come across like a rapid ideologue, he was just a John Doe.

I am reading a fascinating book right now, in German (unfortunately, otherwise I could share it). It deals with the collapse of the Weimar Republic in Berlin. It is more about the social fiber and criminal underground that was a prevalent feature of Berlin's society. One element of the history is the extreme polarization between the Communists and the Socialists. It is this polarization that the National Socialists played into, and people where just sick and tired of the chaos.

What I got out of John Doe from Missouri is that fly-over country is sick and tired of being fly-over country. I don't know how to fix that...

Cool story bro.

Stop bitching about the number of Senators each state gets and just leave it at 2 would be a good start.

Ah, from Political Science 101 in college:

The left seems to fragment while the right seems to coalesce.  I dunno why that is, but apparently it's an ironclad law of nature.

We're gonna see more of this sort of thing.

Too bad for the primitives.

It seems to have worked out differently here, at least so far. The left consists of LGBQT, minorities, feminists, and college students who all vote as a bloc to elect the Dems. The right has the evangelicals and people fed up with lefties. Unfortunately, the evangelicals have been behind the nomination of some real doozies--like Tod Akin, Roy Moore, the guy who lost to Donnelly, the not-a-witch. Hopefully, as their candidates will more and more look and sound like that Commie twit, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the far right will understand the need to be pragmatic and nominate electable candidates.

.   The grammar in your post is a prime example.

I also like the not-so-subtle backhand to the primitives by implying they're not worthy of a book written in German  :-)

Be careful in Barbados, GROT.  I hope you're able to GetRidOfThem  :rotf:

Just the notion that the concerns people you deem as unimportant need to be "fixed" so that you don't have to hear them anymore is its own answer.

What I got out of your bouncy is that you are an east coast snob who has disdain and contempt for normal Americans living in middle America and try to impress everyone by boasting how you are reading a book that is written in German and are not able to share it with others because they are not as internationally or intellectually sophisticated as you are.

I clicked on the link to see if Rock Head had checked in.  It seemed like an ideal opportunity for Rock Head to remind everybody how he speaks Russian.

JMHO, if a German book isn't translated into English it is not worthy of reading.

I give this fable 2 bongs for creative use of "flyover" country and the overall smugness.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Not really.  If you would drop your leftist scum here on your flight the coydogs would have easy bait for we to
nail them in the act.  Please drop your human filth in the woods for the hunt.  Otherwise we have to buy dead calf.
