Facebook now admits that the Russians used them to manipulate public opinion for the election. Maybe in the spirit of patriotism, they should voluntarily shut down until they get their technology under control.

. . . the American people can resolve to be more discerning, to not succumb to ridiculous propaganda, to think for themselves as individuals and not ascribe to a herd mentality, and thus not allow public opinion to be manipulated in the first place. I don't think that's all too much to ask of a people with pretensions to self-governance. But, hey, maybe it is.

DUmmies are willfully ignorant of the facts. The supposed Russian ads on Facebook favored neither candidate, but were meant to foster discord and division in the US.

The Russians wasted their money, because the Democrats did that on their own.

I have a FB page,and I'm not addicted to it. I do check it a couple of times a year just for the hell of it,though. I created it to prevent anyone else from creating a FB page using my name and doing stuff like threatening a president.

The odd thing is I have never made even one post to it,yet I had something like 59 "friends" the last time I went there,none of whom are people I know or have ever even heard of.

Sounds like you just cut out the middleman on that 'Stealing identity' thing.  You have to actually approve those friend requests to add friends on FB, somebody else must have access to your account.

Ok,I guess they were "Friend requests". I don't know,or care,enough about how it works to know the difference,and since it has been MY experience in civilian life that when somebody wants to be your friend,that means they want to borrow money or have you fix something for them for free,I don't answer the online requests. In "flesh life" I just tell people that if I ever feel the need for a friend I will buy a bleeping dog.

I don't know about you, but any time I see an Internet ad saying "Vote for Candidate X!" - especially if it's on FaceBook!  -  I just turn into a mindless robot who votes for Candidate X!
