You did better than I did. I tried to figure out what chickens on tethers had to do with anything, couldn't decipher it at all, and never thought of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

True, but there are no doubt excellent reasons as to why she's on her own mid-life, shouts her rage to an uncaring world at Volume 11, and was desperate to stay a dependent on her deceased parent's pension.  She might not need a bag over her head, but any guy who dipped it in that would need one so she wouldn't recognize his face later.  A ball gag would be pretty useful too.

Possibly. Then too, she's getting to be in the hot-flashes stage of life. That said, she apparently was dependent on her late father, and if not physically disabled (which I don't think she is), well, maybe she's evidencing the other alternative.

Not that understanding the causes of her @#$%^hood changes what she is.
