Skowhegan propane dealer with anti-Trump message is not licensed to sell fuel

SKOWHEGAN — A local propane dealer who said in a recent message that he won’t sell to anyone who voted for President-elect Donald Trump is not currently licensed to sell fuel, state officials said this week.

Michael Turner, who operates Turner LP Gas Service on Canaan Road, left a message for would-be customers on his company’s voicemail, saying “If you voted for Donald Trump for President, I will no longer be delivering your gas, please find someone else.” That message was left on Friday, when temperatures were bitterly cold. The message goes on to say that the cost of gas remains $110 a bottle, with payment due on delivery.

Turner is not licensed to sell gas, and according to the Maine Fuel Board Turner’s propane license expired in 2012. Turner had two licenses, one for delivery and the other for dispensing, which expired in 2012 and 2014, respectively. The board became aware of the issue after the news of Turner’s message was reported by the Portland Press Herald late last week.

According to records with the Maine Fuel Board, Turner was first licensed to sell propane in 1998. A representative from the board said they are aware Turner’s license expired, and said it is illegal to operate without a license.

regulations the States put on people.

You pretty much need a license for everything except breathing and jerking off these days. But that is okay. The Feds put a restriction or a license requirement on something and everyone loses their ****ing minds.

When I put in a pool in my backyard, the petition was rejected by the country first time. Amazing how no one bothers with the "government can't tell me what to do on my property" argument when it's the State, City, Town or local government. Feds, they go nuts.

Michael Turner is apparently is not just a bigot but a dumb bigot. He hates people with differing views so much that he would risk losing business over his hatred towards them. Now he is going to have the state investigating him because his hate attracted their attention to his illegally operated business. As Trump would say "What a dummy".

Ah, Feeling the Bern. While he seems to be a relatively new member of the DUmp, he's already provided me with a lot of fun dismantling his idiotic posts.
Regarding regulation/ overregulation, propane is one of the businesses for which regulation and licensing actually makes a lot of sense, considering it's a potentially hazardous material. I used to work as a loader for a UPS hub (One of the worst jobs I've ever had; Imagine the 'I Love Lucy'  candy conveyor- belt sequence, with packages instead of chocolates), and even just a package with containers of butane lighter fluid would have to be deemed a Haz- Mat and treated specially by its truck's loader and driver. It might be a bit of a pain, but it's one that's certainly understandable given the potential fire hazard they could pose. Considering that tanks of propane are much more flammable, only a complete idiot like Feeling the Bern wouldn't recognize that requiring those who sell and transport them to have up- to- date licensing is an extremely good idea.

Our propane storage tank was about 30 or 40 yards from our house, with 3 trees in between. The grain dryer to which it was connected was another 30 or 40 yards farther away. I was just a kid then, not giving it much thought, but I suspect my Dad and Uncle were careful in planning that location. An entire dealer storage yard going up is something I'd rather not contemplate.

I did that one year for Christmas.  UPS hires on a bunch of extras between about mid-November and Christmas to handle all of the extra package volume.  And you're right, it's brutal work.  Good money at the time, though.  Granted, this was about twenty years ago, so I don't know if they still pay that well or not.

That particular winter was the year that everyone and their uncle bought a Dell home PC for Christmas, so literally about every third item was a 3'X3'X3' cow-printed box, and there were so many that you just never could get all of them on the shelves of that truck.  Eventually, you just had to stack them up where ever you could somewhere kinda close to where they were supposed to be in the truck.

My particular truck was a mostly residential route, but there was one office building on the route, and that building housed some sort of metallurgical lab, testing different steel compositions and such.  So, probably every 20th package that came down the belt was about the size of a typical novel, but it was some metal sample and the damned thing weighed 40 lbs., so I would go to pick it up and damn near yank my arm out of socket.  Just to add insult to injury, I was at the very end of the line, so if I went to catch one of those things and I didn't stop it in time, that heavy SOB would either squash my fingers in the rollers or slam my hand against the "backstop" at the end of the conveyor.  That was especially nice when it was freaking 35 degrees inside the loading dock.

When I first started my USPS career, I had a part of a carrier's route that had a few businesses at the very end. There was a registered package I had to sign for to be delivered. It was a plastic bucket with a bail handle, maybe a half- gallon in capacity. I signed and grabbed the handle and it was as if the clerk had superglued the pail to the counter!  I read the delivery label.. it was going to a jewelry shop.

I made that my FIRST delivery for the day. I went in and chose a strong looking section of counter and gently set the pail down and said, "Here's your bucket of gold" and the clerk said "You're not supposed to know that!" I told her, "If this were a BAIT shop I'd have said, 'here's your bucket of lead sinkers'"...
