Men's Fragrances over The Decades - A Personal History Thread

High school boys seem to have an affinity for AXE scents these days, despite pretty much every woman I know saying that they loathe the stuff. I don't know that I've ever smelled it, since I'm almost never voluntarily in the vicinity of adolescent boys. But it made me wonder about the trends in men's after-shaves, colognes and other fragrances over the decades. So, this thread is for people to identify the scents of their own youthful adolescent days, when almost any fragrance was superior to "Eau de Stinky Boy."

My high school years ran from 1959 to 1963. When I shaved, I always splashed on some Mennen Skin Bracer as an antidote to other aromas emanating from my skinny. disgusting self. That was my fragrance of choice, and I didn't hear any complaints from the girls I dated. Still, I smelled it the other day in the local Walgreen's and can't imagine putting such a thing on my skin at age 71.

So, what were the manly scents of your youth? Just a switch from nonstop threads about Donald Trump...

And, if you're of the female persuasion, please add your comments about what those high school boys splashed on their skin in your high school days.

He is even condescending while talking about cologne.

Any bets on how many say "patchouli"?
Help keep America beautiful...deface a liberal.

The Democrat and Republican parties are simply the left and right wings of the same bird of prey.

The road to freedom is paved with dead liberals.

Creepy post is creepy.

I wouldn't have the first idea of what high school boys smell like (or want to smell like), and would question the reasoning behind any "older" person who does.

Why would you even be thinking  about this?  I can't stand much of any fragrance on men or women.  It's headache-inducing.  My ex wore just an infinitesimal amount of old spice and that was OK.

Same here.  I can't stand any perfume. Makes me sneeze. Especially Old Spice. Pa Perky used to wear that. A lot of it. Made my eyes water and I darn near sneezed what little brains I had out.   :censored:

This OP is totally gay. I wonder if MM is a flamer.
who really cares what high school boys smell like? It comes off as a bit...creepy.

For myself the only thing I wear is deodorant. I shave with hot water and a razor and NO after shave. Done that all my life.

I do use shaving cream, but no after shave and I use deodorant.

I wear either Realm (it's an old brand, but I love it) or Eternity for Men. I spray the air in front of me then walk through it.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I'm not manly enough for that... I use a bar of soap for shave lube.
I also have to use aqua velva afterwords. mainly because it reminds me of the barber shop when I was a kid. The smell from it goes away pretty fast

Shave with medicated aloe vera gel -- $5 bottle lasts about 4 years.

What is this "after shave" you speak of?

Mineral Man sniffing high school boys- preversion. Right up there with Omaha Steve watching girls' high school basketball while wearing a trenchcoat.
