Congressman begs Electoral College voters to block Trump

Source: NY Post

A Democratic lawmaker is desperately lobbying the Electoral College to shun Donald Trump, and vote for Hillary Clinton — even though he conceded Monday that the Republican won the election “fair and square.”

...

“We’re 5 wks from Inauguration & the President Elect is completely unhinged. The electoral college must do what it was designed for,” Himes wrote Sunday night on Twitter in response to Trump’s gripe that NBC “Nightly News” is “biased, inaccurate and bad, point after point.”

In an interview Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” Himes said that Trump’s refusal to say that the Russians hacked Democrats during the election was what prompted his plea to the Electoral College.

“What finally pushed me over the edge was when the president-elect of the United States criticized the CIA and the intelligence community. Can you imagine what the leaders in Beijing and Moscow and Tehran are thinking as they watch the next president of the United States delegitimize and criticize his own intelligence community and stand up for the defense of Russia, one of our prime adversaries,” said Himes.

1. Electors should be forced to listen to speeches from both parties

I'm sure they'll think that a carefully crafted speech against electing a Russian-controlled demagogue is more appealing than someone screaming MAGA for 20 minutes

is he being sarcastic?

2. And the Clinton camp is on board to provide intell to EC....

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028357427#post2

Are you really going to trust Hillary to provide the truth... about 'russians' hacking her e-mails... which she said she never had... or wiped clean... or something... about lying to everyone and stealing the primary away from Bernie... and millions of dollars from foreign governments into her slush fund... that even the FBI says it's not the russians...

that hacking?

3. LOL!!

An insignificant Democratic lawmaker, that nobody has heard of, is asking the Republican electors, to block their own party nominee.

I'm sure he'll be taken seriously.

It's laughable that on one hand, we can see the repubs for what they are.....yet still hold out hope and prayers that they are reasonable, and willing to compromise somehow. LOL!

If there was Russian involvement in the elections, and it helped the repubs take over all branches of the government, why in the world would they resist or attempt to undo that?

It's like asking a team to protest an umpire's lame call that went in their favor.

good point.

5. wrong approach

I find it very counterproductive to suggest that electors switch votes to Clinton. This feeds into Trump's narrative that this is all partisan driven. We have accepted that Clinton lost, we are trying to not lose our country too. Electors are free to cast their vote for any republican. For all I know, it could be Pence because he was part of the ticket but with no ties to Russia or conflict of interest.

And yes, the situation is so dire right now that even Pence would be a better outcome because he can be controlled and we can survive him. He is much more predictable.

8. An EC coup would mean a civil war, unfortunately

I think it would end up being more damaging than a Trump Presidency, unfortunately

In the event of Civil War in which the leftist try to overthrow an election result we will first round the leftists up into the FEMA camps built by Clinton, then shoot them and bury the bodies in the mass grave yards of Katrina recovery ops.

"Himes, who said the Republican isn’t qualified to be “mayor of a small town in Connecticut,” admitted that “under the rules, President-elect Donald Trump won fair and square.”

why is he saying shit like this?
all this business about russia ****ing with the election and he resorts this "fair and square" crap?

I keep trying not to call you DUmpasses retards... but it's so hard...

Light posts are what, 20 feet high? Heck, we can stagger them at 3 foot intervals and get 6 per pole.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Here is what the DUmmies don't understand, an my apologies for the redundant statement.

If the EC were not to cast its ballots for Trump, there is nothing that says they would or would have to cast them for Her Royal Thighness.
"Faithless electors" could just as well band together and select Sarah Palin if they wanted.
Which if there is anyone that would blow their little DU minds, again sorry for the redundancy, it would be a Sarah Palin presidency.   :rotf:  :rotf:

Above ground power lines are plentiful in supply, and can hold an immense amount of weight before hitting their break strength- usually something in the order of several tons IIRC.

So that means that some of the primitives would still have to have a power line span all to themselves, to prevent breakage.

That would LITERALLY cause DUmmie heads to explode. Further, she could name Trump as her V.P., then immediately resign.

That would be a freakin HOOT!

On 1/20/2017 Donald Trump will be sworn in as President of the United States.

And ten seconds after Donald J. Trump says "so help me God" there will be a massive disturbance in the force as all the dummies heads collectively explode.

I am seriously thinking of taking that day off just so I can watch in real time.

Expect "democracy died today" threads at the dump.  Wailing, gnashing of teeth, rending of garments, dogs and cats living together!!!  THE END OF THE WORLD!!!!!
