The division currently occurring on Skins's island between the supporters of the Nominee Certain and the old sourassed sourpuss, with adherents of the latter migrating over to Manny's jackass message board, has been compared with the Great Schism that happened within the Christian church in 1054, which of course is still there.
There's many here who seem to think it's going to be permanent.
I however disagree; I think it's more comparable to the secession of Biafra from Nigeria in 1967, a separation which lasted for three years until the Nigerians reabsorbed the breakaway province.
Manny's jackass message board offers primitives the allure of the new, the flashy, the novelty, but primitives at heart being stuck-in-the-mud reactionaries, probably will inevitably migrate back to Skins's island. The primitives after all are uncomfortable, ill-at-ease, with change, as proved when the old DU was usurped by the new DU a few years ago. They just can't handle change.
Also, Skins's island, having been around for more than 15 years now, long ago established itself as the place to be, the place to hang out, the place where the cool kids were. The primitives have a longing to be cool, and Manny's jackass message board doesn't cut it, any more than Joe's diner is an adequate substitute for the Country Club.
Finally, Skins, the leader of Skins's island, has charisma that attracts, while Manny and his women are, to put it kindly, rather boring.
I dunno how long the division's going to last, but this being May, I'm guessing maybe through mid-November, after which it'll seem as if the primitives were never disunited at all.
Perhaps it would be wise for the Bernie bullies to contemplate upon the fate of Biafra.
