A tweet by Twitter user @BonKamona has gone viral this week and sparked an international conversation, after she drew attention to the Google Image search results she found when looking up "unprofessional hairstyles for work" and "professional hairstyles for work."

Her post was retweeted more than 10,000 times in less than two days and drew a slew of responses, many of them critical of Google and of the perceived "racism" of the results.

The female must've found her picture in the "unprofessional" search results. Choices have consequences, including clothing and hairstyles. It's not about race, it's about how businesses want their people to be perceived and about co-workers working well together.

Speaking personally re the latter, I've worked most of my professional life with electronics that have either high current potential or high voltages (1000-10000 volts). I do not want to be working with some one whose clothing or hair suggests that they are sloppy or don't much care to be appropriately careful. Skin color has nothing to do with my perceptions.
