I am so sick of "The Media", and the Republican slime balls gushing over Ronnie (and Nancy) I want to puke.

Ronald Reagan's policies created the screwed up economy that only benefits the 1% while the rest of us are expected to work harder and harder for less and less every day. Reagan convinced millions to blame "welfare queens" for their problems. He claimed the government was the problem, not the wealthy "free market" economic terrorists who plundered our families savings. He cut aid to the mentally ill so much that millions went homeless who had no real way to cope. He ended affordable college. The list goes on forever. So what if he wagged his finger at Gorbachev after the Russians had been bankrupt for years. I give him zero credit for anything good.

Reagan was a f-ing monster.

When he took office was when the middle class began their plunge into the abyss.

For every good thing Reagan did, there was 10 bad things, or maybe 100.

I had to turn off my television today because of all the gushing bull crap.

No way anyone will ever talk about Reagan's "the bad" today, tomorrow, or forever.

Ronnie was a saint as far as they are concerned. EOM. All they will ever have to say.

It makes me sick because I live in the real world where real bad policies (and straight faced racism) hurts real good people.

Ronnie, the government (of, by, and for the people) isn't the problem. Having the oligarchs run it is the problem you asshole.

My father some how ended up in Ballyporeen, Tipperary (where Reagan descended from) and he was delighted to find an anti-Ronald Reagan demonstration going on when he got there (~1985). I still have the flyer in fact.

My family had a real good reason to dislike him. He threw the disabled and those in need of mental health care to the dogs, and one of these people was my late brother. 

Luckily, my parents didn't live to see my brother's death occur. That is the only good thing I can say about any if this.

As for Nancy ... *sigh*

To each their own I suppose.

Nancy want very bright and didn't do much, I've nothing against her. When papa and mama bush die, I put them into the same category as Ronald. But Nancy? Meh. She did good in her later years.

The "emptying of the mental hospitals" was mandated in the late 1950s ... by the Federal government ... specifically, a D-lead Congress. Reagan didn't become Governor of CA until almost a decade later. Propaganda-lit, such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, persuaded Ds and Rs alike that community clinics dispensing then-new "wonder drugs" were the way to go. In CA, the "emptying of the mental hospitals" was begun by two-term Governor Edmund "Pat" Brown, who was succeeded in 1967 by Ronald Reagan.

The whole "Reagan emptied the mental hospitals" narrative is false. Not that facts matter to Libs, Progs, and Ds.

This is yet another Lib/Prog lie about President Reagan. The cause of AIDS was discovered around the time Reagan became President. Contrary to the Lib/Prog lie, billions of $$ were spent on AIDS research during Reagan's Presidency. As your post illustrates, finding a cure for AIDS has proved vastly more difficult that the Reagan-haters' narrative assumes.

So Reagan bears zero responsibility for the death of promiscuous homosexuals and needle-sharing drug users. The responsibility was solely theirs. OTOH, as BFDU and PGR already stated, AIDS prevention is easy: Don't stick something where it doesn't belong!

Reagan could have cured the AIDs epidemic for about $6 a person.  Take all the gay guys and staple their dicks to their thighs.
