There are three indelible factors in politics that are often overlooked by those of us who live and breathe this stuff for a living.  1) Perception is reality, even if the reality is antithetical to the public perception of a candidate; 2) voters ultimately cast ballots for individuals based on persona, not a coherent set of principles; and 3) name ID is the single biggest determinant of success.

I think the article is saying that people have a perception that Trump is their guy, when he either isn't, or there isn't enough real evidence to say that he is.  But they still vote for him anyway.  Maybe that's my bias take, Trump scares me.....

At this point, Donald Trump is the clear front-runner.  But what is also the front-runner are the principles and issues we’ve spotlighted for so long and will continue to do so, irrespective of who wins the nomination.  Men are fallible, but principles endure.

Does this mean Trump will fade but conservative principals won't?

More like Conservative principles will outlive whatever Celeb de jour is at the top of the GOP ticket.  Candidates come and go...Conservatism endures.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

The guy is pretty good at what he does though.  I feared him after his performance at the last debate, yet it felt good to hear him say what he said about Obama not going to Scalia's funeral.  Would Obama had gone if it were at a mosque.  He definitely plays to people's emotions.
