Ok this is geting hilariious

Capehart is "pruning the trolls" from his account, and preventing people from following him.

Like he can stop the rest of us telling him to #retractcapehart.

But this is now his reaction to the criticism. He cannot stand the heat, and it is real heat on the twitter.

So Jonathan, here is straight from the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics.

Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived. Disclose unavoidable conflicts.

http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp

You got either a perceived or real conflict, but one nonetheless, and the rest of us will keep pointing this out. This is no longer about Sanders... but as to why the media is mistrusted. Congrats on that. You have now added to that conversation. And yes, it is time to contact the ombudsman as well.

And now he is blocking people from seeing his tweets. This is really mature

#retractcapehart. This will not stop

The queen of the ignore list has an opinion about maturity?

9. Asking somebody to follow a code of ethics

is not swarming.

You might like this media, but some of us don't

And at this point pieces are coming out being very critical of him and the post. At this point it is about him and the media, not Sanders, And it is time to retract that story,

Quote
How a Washington Post Writer's Attack on Bernie Sanders' Civil Rights Record Completely Backfired

On Saturday afternoon the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart walked back a widely circulated “debunking” of a photo of Bernie Sanders from his days at the University of Chicago during the civil rights sit-ins of 1962. The original story, published Thursday, asserted with total certainty that the photo was not of Bernie Sanders but rather Bruce Rappaport:

First rule of media is not to become the story. He has.

14. Clearly, he should retract it and apologize for the "mistake".

And move on

He is just making it worst

56. Did you ever retract your stories about Sgt Polk...

The marine you claimed died in a secret mission in Syria?

Or the story about wind power causing cancer?

Because yes I agree retractions are good!

Finally, she gets  the ole backhand.

58. As a mater of fact i asked the

Editor to do so. The editor chose not to. So there you have it.

And no, I will not post emails here on that.

So sorry to disappoin you that way.

As I stated in another post I know why this retraction business is very hard for media. And at this point this is about Capeheart and the WAPO. Nice attempt at trying to make it about me.

LA-LA-LA-LA not Nadin's fault :lalala:

60. So your story wasn't retracted even though it was clearly wrong, yet

You demand other journalists do something that you, as a journalist, didn't do.

Got it.

nadinbrzezinski (143,916 posts)

61. SLOWLY, I ASKED THE EDITOR TO RETRACT THE STORY

the editor chose not to retract the story. I do not control the content of that paper.

I cannot do more than ASK THE EDITOR TO DO SO, after I found it was wrong.

Capehart can ask his editor to do the same... and if his editor refuses to retract even after TIME and the University have done such, he can step down from the WAPO. In case you have not noticed. we no longer work for that paper. That is one of the reasons. We have worked with them on a recent story regarding floods, something about not going to a sketchy neighborhood in the middle of the night ALONE, after a building floods, but I am responsible for my content.

It was a lesson learned and one that I am proud of learning. When you have those issues, you sooner or later, walk away.

But still nice attempt about making this about me.

So let me repeat this for you, nice attempt at distraction. But this is absolutely about Capehart and he is getting pounded by many journalists for this... and I am not the only one directing him kindly to the SPJ code of ethics.

And the woman who started Nadin down the path from Cub Reporter to Hard Hitting Investigative Reporter gets thrown under the bus.

Given the pattern in which the cousin lies, it's reasonable to extrapolate that the hapless Miriam actually demanded that she retract the story herself, and the cousin pigheadedly refused to.  In case anyone's forgotten, the cousin was no longer with that publication soon thereafter.

Ahhh. nadin. She's a reporter damn it. With a paper that you can't fold up.

For new members and lurkers: I am a fictional spirit-guide with no smell whatsoever. I am part irish setter and part pigeon. If you don't smell any strange smells it means I'm probably standing next to you. As I am a fictional character anything I post should possibly be considered fictional.

Classic Nad, she is the walking, talking definition of "do as I say, not as I do."

Soon enough she will be regaling us with tales about Moose and Squirrel , and plonking anyone who dareth question them.
