129. Yes and that is why we have a National Guard.
If the Founders wanted the word 'individual' in the 2A they would have put it in there. They were very good with wording. We have the 2A because the British came back in 1812 with a vengeance. That is recorded history.
As PGR said, what came to be called the 2nd Amendment was written and adopted long before the War of 1812 - proposed before Congress in 1789, and ratified in 1791.
As for Rex's first sentence, (s)he should have re-read the Bill of Rights before posting something so stupid. If "people" does not mean "individuals", guess what else is no longer the rights of individuals:
1st Amendment: rights to peaceably assemble and to petition the government;
4th Amendment: rights not to have their property searched/seized without a search warrant, probable cause being a prerequisite for a search warrant being issued, and the objects being sought being specified;
The 9th and 10th amendments in their entirety.
Those who want to play words games so as to deny the clear and obvious meaning of the 2nd Amendment should at least make sure that denial doesn't also deny other rights, rights more cherished by the one trying to deny the right recognized in the 2nd Amendment.
