Out#$%&ingstanding!  The rumor the last few days was they had recommended a "Special" which would have been pretty much a slap on the wrist.  Cheers to all the folks still on active duty who had their CIC rub their noses in shit during this fiasco.

As I recall DAT has a law degree.
Hopefully he has a specialized enough knowledge of Military Law and the UCMJ to answer this question...
What is the General Court Martial conviction rate ?
I am very familiar with the Article 15 process also known in the USN and Marines as Mast.
The conviction rate at Mast?Article 15 is practically 100%
And as punishment goes, NJP (Non Judicial Punishment) is the lowest level.
I would think the GCM proceeding would have an outcome that is a foregone conclusion.
I certainly hope so in this case.

Hanging would be nice, but unrealistic.  There hasn't been a military execution since WW II. And if Hassan isn't going to be executed,  Bergedahl won't. 

I say strip him of all rank and entitlements, no VA benefits,  and no possibility of making ANY money off his "book/movie deals". He's not wasting taxpayer money that way, since we all know he won't be executed.

Anything less than this, and good order and military discipline will go right down the tubes.  Anything more is bonus.

Not to pee in anyone's cheerios, but why are we assuming he'll be found guilty? I am thinking this is a way to remove Bergdahl as a campaign issue ("He was acquitted, you can't try him again, President Trump!"). You can bet that panel will be full of politically correct senior leaders who haven't worried about individual troops or good order and discipline in over a decade.

Now, I'd like to see something done about the unlawful command influence in this case coming from the WH. I'll be happy with that.

Excellent point. As far as Barry's concerned, it all boils down to politics and his legacy. He doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone else.

Bowe Bergdahl is a traitor who actively tried to enjoin our enemy in Afghanistan.  American lives were lost searching for him, which means that he deserves a firing squad.  However, being a traitor himself, Obama has a soft spot for traitors.  Since, like his father, he hates the west and wishes for third world nations to rise up and take control, it was a perfect way to snatch defeat for the US from the jaws of victory and give voice to the America loathing traitors in our midst.

I'm not sure owebuma is particularly soft hearted for traitors.

Yes, he is an all-muslim sympathizer.  As many middle easterners he brings here, he has left the Christians behind.

To him, Bowe Bergdahl is a hero, he lived amongst the muslims, he walked away from Americans, & so that accounts for the Rose Garden celebration. I just don't see Bergdahl being found guilty.

I think the fact that it has made it past the article 32 hearing is a good indicator that he will actually be punished for his crimes. What level, remains to be seen, but hopefully he gets the book thrown at him.
