My bil's battle with alcoholism is one of the things that created the complications that sent him to his death Jan. of this year. Along with smoking and hard living in general that complicated hepetitis he contracted during an operation in the 70's. It indeed was not pretty and at some point, he gave up and just drank when he could, albeit with blacking out from lack of oxygen, he rarely would finish a beer. He stayed with us for about a week just 3 weeks or so before his death and my husband had to end up taking his oldest brother to the hospital because he kept passing out right in a chair. I'm glad my other half at least got the time he did with his brother since they did a lot of talking in the week. Ultimately, he died of pneumonia, but was in so much pain before that.
All that said, I hope Redstone beats this thing. His family do not want to see him in the condition my bil was in at the end. Good luck to you, Redstone, and by all means take the help wherever you can get it. Maybe your 'higher power' is working through AA. Don't reject help.
