Colorado Springs vs. Charleston: The Church Massacre That Ended Differently

Quote
In 2007, former police officer Jeanne Assam was working as a plain clothed security guard at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. When a man showed up on Sunday armed to the teeth and ready to carry out a massacre, Assam drew her weapon and stopped him before he could kill anyone inside.

A former police officer, Assam, 42, was on security duty Sunday morning at New Life Church here. Hours earlier, a 24-year-old who had been rejected from a missionary school in a Denver suburb had shot and killed two staffers there. Now he was spraying New Life's parking lot with gunfire and pushing through the doors to the sanctuary.

Assam hid and inched toward the gunman, Matthew Murray, as dozens of terrified worshipers fled. She waited until he got close enough, revealed herself, aimed her pistol and fired. Murray dropped to the ground. He was carrying an assault rifle, two pistols and a backpack holding more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

"I just prayed to the Holy Spirit to guide me," Assam said at a packed news conference Monday. "I give the credit to God. This has got to be God, because of the firepower he had versus what I have."

Authorities on Monday said Assam saved untold lives.

On Wednesday a racist man walked into Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina, sat with black worshippers for and hour and then murdered nine of them.

The difference? Assam had the opportunity to fight back and saved lives. The Emanuel A.M.E. Church prohibits congregation members from carrying firearms and there are no reports showing security guards were on the scene at the time of the murders.

Could the church massacre in Charleston have been stopped? We'll never know, but we do know a similar tragedy was stopped somewhere else.

It's horribly sad, but there are churches that are forming security teams with the aid of members with law enforcement experience. Sadly, this AME church was not one such.

Contrary to Obama's nonsense, it's not the pervasiveness of guns that has brought us this pass, but dismissal and even demonization of moral people, and the sub-culture among us of race-baiting and -counter-baiting.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Doesn't matter.  They possess neither the capacity or honesty to process that which makes them actually think.

EDIT:  Did you whoop that on the (D)elUsionists yet?  I can only take very minute doses of that place because I'm currently out of Tylenol.

Most small churches here in Colorado Springs have no security team at all. Volunteer or otherwise. The church referenced is the one I actually attend. It's enormous with not only a volunteer security team, but also police officers monitoring the outside with security.

These days it's pretty commonplace with the larger churches but sadly, a sign of the times.

My own church has had a security guard for about a year now, I believe he's ex- military. Great, friendly guy (His wife is the head of the children's ministry), but at the same time I know he wouldn't hesitate to drop any scumbag that might try and pull something like that at our church. He could probably take a would- be shooter out with one bullet.
DUmmies have eyes, but refuse to see. They have ears, but refuse to hear. They have brains, but... well, they have eyes and ears, anyway.
Not only that, but also their sense of "Morals" is so twisted, it can only be Satanic in nature.
Case in point is how I remember the DUmmies reacting to the 2007 Colorado Springs church shooting (I know I've talked about this before, but it bears repeating):
Shortly before the shooting, Matthew Murray posted a long, rambling, massively anti- Christian rant/ manifesto online that read almost exactly like something that an uber- DUmmy like undergroundpanther or the now- banned Taverner would write.
btw, to clarify a little on the OP's report of that shooting, the security guard Jeanna Assam's shot didn't kill Murray. It wounded him, which caused Murray to realize he was done for and use his gun on himself. Either way, her courage and resourcefulness brought his rampage to an end and saved the lives of a lot of good people.
After the shooting, when news of it first reached the DUmp, the DUmmies initially displayed their typical compassion and sensitivity through making comments such as "I guess God was out having a cigarette break when it happened." Then, when more details of the shooting came to light (i.e. Murray's manifesto was posted on the DUmp, and it was revealed that Murray was gay), they ratcheted up the DUchebaggery to levels unheard of! In one DU thread after another, the DUmmies openly portrayed Murray as a brave and noble hero righteously standing up for gay rights, portrayed the churchgoers he targeted as a bunch of evil fundy fanatics who all deserved to die, and portrayed Jeanna Assam as a bloodthirsty lunatic. That's right: They portrayed the shooter who killed innocent people as a hero, and portrayed the security guard who risked her own life to stop him as a monster. It's things like that which make me believe that liberals should have as little influence as possible on our justice system, as they routinely apply that kind of backwards logic when looking at degenerate criminals.
Now, with this Charleston shooting, they do portray the killer as a monster (As well they should), but still try and milk all the political points they can out of this shooting by shrieking that nobody should be allowed to have guns in a public place, and you know it won't be long before they try and claim he must have been a Tea Partier and demand that all conservative political groups nationwide be deemed terrorist groups as a result.

... a 24-year-old who had been rejected from a missionary school in a Denver suburb had shot and killed two staffers there ...

From Wikipedia's article on the Avada and New Life Church shootings and personal knowledge, Murray had tried to do a Discipleship Training School at the Arvada, CO Youth With A Mission base. A DTS is YWAM's entry-level "school", 5 or 6 months long, with 3+ months spent on-base in lecture, counseling, and service on-base and in whatever community is nearby. The remaining 2 months is an  outreach, usually to a country outside of the US doing street preaching and working at churches and places such as refugee camps and orphanages. A DTS is pretty challenging on a lot of levels, outreach phase especially. My guess is that the DTS school staff realized that Murray would not have been able to handle the challenges of outreach.

YWAM tries very hard to work with DTS students - many have had very rough backgrounds - but Murray was dismissed from the lecture phase of the DTS, in 2002. He was bitter about it and came to the Arvada base in December of 2007 claiming he needed to spend the night. While a couple base staff people started to make arrangements, he killed them.

There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.
