Starbucks Closure List

I just checked again on Mall of Georgia... I forgot they had 2 Starbucks in that mall.     Makes absolutely no sense, as the busier location (on the bottom floor, next to the carousel) is centrally-located and easy to get to, while the other is further down on the second level, towards Macy's, which is the one that they must be shuttering.   It's good to know a friend's job is not in jeopardy (he makes my frappacino just the way I like it.   ).

I'm not a coffee drinker so I never paid much attention to Starbucks, but I was in Palm Beach Mall in Florida last week and I couldn't believe they had 3 in the mall.  It's not a huge mall.   2 of the 3 are on the list.

I'm a coffee drinker and that is excessive. Kind of points back to the Charbucks inside of the Charbucks type of deal.

I'm with you, sister! LOL. If I want drive through I go to McD or Tim Horton's. But I'll usually run into a Speedway and find their strongest brew and use that. BP's little cafe thingy has some good coffee too. Just seems that gas stations depend on the time of day as to if the coffee will be any good and fresh.

I know where this is and I could have told them this would be an epic failure. Reynoldsburg is fairly diverse, but mostly working class/blue collar(particularly in the Main Street corridor which is 'old town Reynoldsburg') and this store sits wedged between a Jolly Pirate Donuts(one of the last vestiges of smoking right in a donut shop before it was outlawed in Ohio) and a Tim Horton's. Both sell coffee for a third of the price and offer breakfast foods for that other 2 or 3 bucks you saved over the Starbucks coffee. Numerous gas stations to boot. It doesn't sit close to the freeway(it's 2 or 3 miles down from it). It was scheduled to fail as soon as it started.

should be interesting to see what happens to them as Dunkin' Donuts continues to expand and regain its health. I know it is slated to open several more stores in this area and I actually prefer them over all the others so I'll be a regular patron if they get one closer. If gas wasn't so damn high, I'd actually drive the 7 miles a couple times a week to the closest one that's how much I like the coffee.

We have an IHOP coming right by my house too. I'm stoked about that. Haven't been to one since I lived in AZ except to stop on the way down to Florida or something. Ohio is littered with Bob Evans and Cracker Barrels...color me bored.

Expensive taste? I got industrial size Folgers coffee in the fridge. Also, I discovered you can pay for the big bottle of wine with money from donating blood and it's the same as if you drank a whole box of box wine.

OK the last one is a joke but it's something we did do for beer money in college back in the day, LOL.

Wow, just not long ago they were bragging about how fast they were growing.

Some on the list are the only store in that town, and the only one for 30 or more miles...

Starbucks was pretty new to where I used to live in IL/IA....but now I see just in Davenport, IA they are closing three..including the one in the mall....They built like five new one within a ten mile radius in a year..I knew it could not last long.

I do enjoy Starbucks once in a while, especially the seasonal flavors.

Well, they are still growing, just not in the states. Starbucks is pushing big time in China, but they have their work cut out for them since China is a tea drinking society. They are making pretty good headway as the Chinese gov. has decided to give them the nod since they have decided to design their stores specifically to local needs. They are trying to win the peeps there to coffee, but they have changed product offerings to better serve that area and their stores are redesigned as well.

So, we tend to think US when we think of a store growing, but many companies growth is being found internationally and not in the states. Starbucks, apparently, is one of those.

ETA: I enjoy the seasonal flavors as well. It's about the only time I'll pay the extra for their coffee is when they have the Pumpkin Spice or Gingerbread flavors out. There is another shop here that makes this Peppermint Latte thing...OMG--we are talking divine level yummy!

We got one here that just was built on Sterling Avenue a few months ago closing down too. Oh well. Never drank there. When I want coffee, I go to Dunkin' Donuts. A hell of a lot cheaper and tastes better, IMO.

I would go there for sure. I recall a chain in Columbus called Cup'o'Joe's but, I think, it was just a sort of generic Starbucks rip off.

I'm not a coffee snob either. I'm coffee opinionated. (that means I would be a coffee snob except that i don't know beans about beans) I just know what I like. Starbucks is great but I've also had awsome coffee from the vending machine at the I-75 rest stop between Dayton and Cincy.

I'll also say this for Starbucks, they raised the bar. I'd bet dollars to donuts the Speedway and BP gas stations of the world would not have half a dozen coffee flavors w/half a dozen flavored creams were it not for the compitition.

While I don't drink Starbuck's very often, I do like a decent cup of espresso. Enroute between Texas and MN, I discovered that Mickey D's had started selling espresso. It was every bit as good as Starbucks and about 1/3rd of the cost (maybe 1/2). It doesn't break my heart that some stores are closing down because they are just plain overpriced. Not only their coffee, but any of the "hardware" they sell inside.

McD's started the custom coffee in several stores across the United States, making the prices several cents less then Starbucks....I think it will work well for McDonalds. They even started to do this in Japan.

I like McDonalds Iced Coffee.  It's tasty and a good price.

The Sugar Free Vanilla is not bad...they make it with Splenda.

Like Chris said, sometimes it's not all that good, I think they just keep dumping the old coffee into the dispenser all day long and leave it up to the kids to "mix it"

We have a cup of joe here in my town. It's good coffee, but really just another Starbucks type of thing. I agree with you about coffee...I've had some good cups on the road too.

The cappuccino tastes like something out of those machines in the gas stations...maybe I got a bad batch, but it turned me off from the 'McCafe'. Also their regular coffee(in this area-cause I've had it other places and it was good) is watered down. Disappointing since I usually like their coffee.

I am not a coffee snob. As long as it's hot, black and kicks my ass into high gear, I'm happy.
