If the Democratic Party Wanted to be Smart in 2016
They would pour millions and millions into getting the vote out efforts in a huge daily advertising campaign from tomorrow through Election Day. Make voting seem like a party. Make voting the thing to do. Promote the idea of voting as if it were the equivalent of political Mardi Gras, the fourth of July, and spring break combined. Forget fighting the GOP's messaging battle, just emphasize voting, voting, voting. We have the numbers but lack the rank and file commitment. Play it smart for once DNC. Forget thinking people are bright enough to go out and vote on their own because it is in their best interests. That strategy has failed too many times.

So... just baffle them with bullshit and freebies? Yeah... that should work.

I mean Obama won Indiana in 2008 using the 50 state strategy! I believe Hillary can do the same & even pick up some southern states where the consensus in the south was 'I can't vote for a black President', this won't be an issue with Hillary and she is a native southerner....

5. Motivated

I think Democrats will be motivated in 2016 anyway but I also think that the voters would be hyper-motivated if the DNC poured on the get out the vote starting now. They don't even have to be partisan, just urge people to vote and see just how high the voter turnout can get. That's the beauty of this strategy, the Right can't come out and say, "Hey, you shouldn't vote", or they would sound like even bigger morons. It's so simple that there is just no defense against it. Democrats can rail against voter ID laws and all the other modern poll tax strategies of the Right once they have the public's attention. They could introduce bills on the state and federal level that make it easier for people to vote that will get voted down by the Right further painting the GOP as anti-democratic. I just don't see a downside to this strategy but maybe I am being too Pollyanna about it. Can you think of a downside?

It would be great is some Democratic PAC ran commercial after commercial just making the case for voting and watch the Right go nuts. Make the commercials look like public awareness ads. Keep the partisan stuff out until the very end and then point out all that the Right has done to thwart voting over the past year.

Yep. Giving people no peace from politics for two freaking years is a sure way to start a rebellion against your party.

If the democrat party is smart they will step back and let the GOPe shit on their base at every chance like they are doing.

BTW, McConnell just let a racist and sexist black woman that told them she would not enforce the law of the land and tear yup The Constitution. He could have put the filibuster back, but didn't and it would be over. He could have refused to bring it to a vote like Reid would and did.

Now McConnell is bringing the NSA extensions up without going through committee. That is a real conservative thing to do.

Let's forget funding the DHS thereby allowing Obama's illegal amnesty to go on. Or the crominbus to fund Obama's wishes.

I'm beginning to miss the accused pedarest Harry Reid.

The senate is gone in 2016 and we will have another fascis....er progressive president.

Actually, the Chicago union thugs followed voters into the booth to make sure they voted as expected.

Except that it's not.  There are no hot chicks flashing you for beads.  There's no drinking and dancing and fun music.  There's no fireworks and barbecue.  You have to stand in line at a municipal building, and get checked in by matronly old ladies.  That's it.  On the other hand, your daily commercials sure would chew up a lot of cash.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.
