We put out grape jelly today for our bird friends (many photos)



It is time for our oriels to show up. This Saturday we will put out the hummingbird feeders. We get a great selection of birds because Fontenelle Forest is on the other side of our back fence: http://www.fontenelleforest.org/

Last week raccoons ruined an old Shepard's crook hanger. I had to go buy another heavy duty version. That gives us a place to put a hummingbird swing.

You're saying martha put out the jelly. Not your lazy ass.

Where we live we add a little moonshine to the sweet water to help make it a party for the birds.  They make their own swings.

Because, Gina, they are the vilest of the vile. Not to mention that they are just plain stoopid.

Anyone who feeds birds should read at least one book on the subject. Then they would find out that processed foods are a no-no.  If you're going to feed Orioles, put out a quartered orange. If you're worried about bacteria growth in sugar water, clean the damned feeder once a week, twice a week in the hot, late summer. And keep your sugar water mixture at 3:1.

And pull your suet blocks in by the end of March, or when you notice bugs.

I wonder if he requires her to do all the work in the bedroom like our flat-flippered pal, the Las Vegas Leviathan.  More likely, they've stopped having sex decades ago as each one drifted off into their own worlds... Of course he does; it's always been that way.

The big guy lays around all day hanging with the primitives, and when poor dear Marta gets home from work, well, there's housework that needs done--dusting, vacuuming, washing and drying the dishes, making the beds, doing the laundry, picking up the empty bags that once held Frito-Lay products that are strewn around, &c., &c., &c.

If Marta jammed a pillow into the big guy's face, and franksolich was on the jury for the trial, I'd hold out for acquittal, based upon justifiable homicide.
