10 years ago today, I decided it was time to stop lurking.
I was new to computers, and even newer to message boards. I really did not comprehend how places like DU operated; I had to sign up to discover this.

I knew it looked fascinating and I wanted to join in the discussions. So I did, and wow, a whole new world opened up.

I was politically minded before I got here, but DU really reinforced that. I have learned so much from the smart people who post here!

I want to thank all of you who have contributed to my education, which continues to this day. It's been a blast (well, mostly!  ) and I'm grateful.

DU is, and always will be, home...

Aw crap, I blinked and missed it.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I miss her poetry.

I miss it too, and wonder what's up with that.

The primitives don't seem to be as literary as they used to be, and they think themselves more "refined" in such things, than we are.

Fail.  That actually had rhythm, meter, and rhyme.  CalPig would never stoop to such outdated techniques.  Also, no hot breath, wetness, or heaving and thrusting.

H5! You out peggied Peggy. A 7 year olds poem about his puppy is more mature and less mock worthy than anything she's shared.

I never read her poetry but maybe her refrigerator became demagnetized and her poetry kit doesn't stick any more?
