Dear Scuba -

I was fired from McDonald's because I don't "fit the profile."

What profile? Well, my boss never said. But she did say:

"There are too many black people in the store."

And she did say: "We need to get the ghetto out of the store."

And: "It's dark in here and needs more lightening."

Today, I'm filing suit against McDonald's, along with 9 of my former coworkers, for firing us on racist grounds. Will you stand with us?

Tell McDonald's: Racist harassment is not legal and simply NOT ok. Pay your workers, fired on racist grounds, back pay and damages today.

I worked hard at McDonald's, working my way up from cashier to manager in just a year and a half. I never had a disciplinary action or write-up filed against me. But then, they fired me just like that. Now I need to figure out a new way to support my two kids.

We asked McDonald's corporate to help us get our jobs back, but the company told us to take our concerns to the franchisee – the same franchisee that just fired us, and that regularly harassed us on the job.

The fact is – this problem is bigger than just our store. It's a problem with the company as a whole when workers at McDonald's have nowhere to turn when facing racism on the job.

If we had a union, we could stand together and demand respect, but on our own, our bosses get away with racist harassment.

Sign the petition: McDonald's must pay back pay and damages to the fired workers like me and make sure that this type of racist harassment never happens again at any McDonald's in the country.

Monday was Martin Luther King Day, and today we find ourselves still fighting Dr. King's fight. It's simply ridiculous that in 2015, we still have to take our bosses to court for racist harassment at the workplace. But we do.

I hope you'll stand with us.

I have no doubt that there is an undercurrent of "these stores are too black" running through McDonalds. I've lived in plenty of cities where there "good" McDonalds and "don't go there" McDonalds.

I think this one is going to be tough to prove without a hell of a good paper trail.

This is the problem in general with economically based racial discrimination. We know it exists, but unless you have Donald Starling at the top of the pyramid is incredibly difficult to prove.

We have two Arby's nearby and one of them, I won't go to because of the lousy service. They have only blacks working there, and they will ignore white customers.  The other one has a mix of races and they literally try to be the first to wait on customers.

I've been in plenty of fast food places with all Black employees oozing with 'tude, if I was running the place I'd have fired their asses too, so I can see where a remark like 'Get the ghetto out' might come from...also some with mostly Black employees who were polite and eager, too, oozing with positive attitude. 

The original email is suspiciously short on details, the ownership's race is just the tip of the iceberg.  That whole "I don't know why I was let go" really reeks of absolute bullshit.

I've told it before but I'll tell it again.

Almost every weekend for about 20 years(March thru October), I went white water canoeing in the mountains. I would stop on Saturday mornings at the HARDEE's in Spartanburg S.C. for breakfast on the way up and a sandwich and coffee Sunday night on the way back. The all black staff got so bad, I quit stopping there for a few months. Late one Sunday night, I just had to have a cup of coffee to make the other 100 miles left on my drive home. HARDEE's was the only convenient place to stop. I gritted my teeth and went in.....smiling face of a white girl greeted me.... made a fresh pot of coffee just for me....another white girl took my order for a sandwich....cooked by a white cook....I was wondering how in the world they had made such a complete turn around since spring time. Then I saw the change. They had gotten rid of the old white manager and hired a black one. He had gotten rid of the sorry help and gotten himself some help.

What makes you think you can't all be fired even if you join a union? If you're in a right to work state, all of your asses could get fired and be replaced by the time it takes to heat up the fry grease.

If the DUmmies were smart, they would adopt a policy of waiting for about a week before going all in on these big lies that they are always getting sucked into.  It would save them a lot of embarrassment.  But they aren't smart and they have no shame.  DUmmies, think back just a little while to what fools you made of yourselves with the hands up don't shoot, Gentle Giant fiasco.  The rabble are being roused once again by the rabble rousers.
