« on: December 28, 2014, 12:01:04 AM »

Search and rescue operations are underway after an AirAsia flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore with 162 people onboard lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday.

Transport Ministry official Hadi Mustofa said the aircraft, flight number QZ 8501, lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6.17 am local time (10.17am AEDST).

The passengers include 138 adults, 16 children and one baby, and seven crew.

In a post on Facebook, AirAsia confirmed the plane was missing.

"AirAsia Indonesia regrets to confirm that flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control at 07:24hrs this morning," AirAsia said on its Facebook page.

"At the present time we unfortunately have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board, but we will keep all parties informed as more information becomes available." http://www.smh.com.au/world/airasia-flight-from-indonesia-to-singapore-loses-contact-20141228-12em2h.html

My morning scan of news feeds indicates the wreckage has been found. But that is not being reported yet on FoxNews.

In my experience asian and other far eastern peoples make poor airplane pilots.
Not sure how good they are at ship piloting they are.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

An AirAsia Plane Is Missing And Thought To Have Crashed Near An Island In Indonesia

An AirAsia plane that went missing during a flight to Singapore is thought to have crashed near the Indonesian island of Belitung, an official from Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency told local news outlets.

A search and rescue team has been dispatched to the area.

CCTV News reports that wreckage might have been spotted near Belitung Island, but there has been no official confirmation of that yet.
More info on this (?). Early "news" reports tend to be very incomplete and inaccurate. The waters into which this plane may have crashed are relatively shallow (compared to the open ocean).

Anyone heard shouting "Allah At-duh-bar"?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
