1. these days, sadly, it often doesn't matter and many people don't care plenty of people simply want a republican in office; plenty of people simply want a democrat in office.

people with specific interests in the state will find the senator and win favor if they can cough up money.

hillary got tagged as a carpetbagger but she became a senator from new york anyway. now that's a big state and smart as she is, i'd bet she could have been tripped up had she been asked about one of its 62 counties.

having said that, scott brown is a far cry from hillary clinton and she handled the carpetbagger charge quite capably whereas brown keeps walking into it.

Do they admit it was a set up and the mod was wrong? No.

2. Even if would have happened with Clinton, it would not have the same effect
Two reasons:
1) Hillary made no effort to contrive a history of living in NY. No claims that when she studied in nearby New Haven, she spent many hours in NY - which is very likely true. Brown has claimed he ran in NH instead of MA, because he lived there. This ignores that he moved right before declaring a run. He also makes a huge point of having been born there - even though for years he listed his birthplace as Kittery Maine -- likely the city on his birth certificate. Clinton simply said that they had bought a home in Chappaqua where they would live when they left the WH.

2) (and I think more important) Brown has the reputation of being an empty suit and not working hard to understand issues. Hillary had the reputation of being as sharp as they come AND of very diligently doing her homework. Someone once said if Bill Clinton had misspelled "potato", there would have been no story -- it didn't fit the meme on Clinton. Here, Brown saying something stupid reinforces that he really is pretty lazy and really is NOT from NH. I assume that Shaheen could freehand draw a map of the state's counties and do a pretty good job.

I do agree that there are a number of people who would vote for him just because he is Republican. That is just as true as knowing that I had no intention of voting against the corrupt Torrecelli in 2002 in the general election - because it could give the Republicans a seat needed to take the Senate (which happened anyway, but NJ was saved by Lautenberg taking over as nominee.)

Where it could help is it might be one thing for someone independent on the fence. Here there is reason to think there are such people as Shaheen has over a 50 percent favorability score. This means that some of those people are still undecided or actually saying they will vote for Brown. Anything that makes Brown less acceptable helps here.

yeah.... they are that desperate to tear down anyone who could oppose Hillary in 2016.

Want to hear a joke ?
A lib apologized.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

The was a recent poll out showing Shaheen up by 8 points.  What this amounts to is wishful thinking [and note who  the poll is by, the same folk who employ the miscreant moderator.]

We have our share of DUmmies here on the seacoast and they may well be sorely disappointed Tuesday night but I don't think they will hold a Ferguson style riot.  They are like the kids who believe Super Market Santa when he says "Sure Kid, I'll bring ya that pony."

Let me share an article of a  local loon with the group.  Some commentors think he may have actually helped Brown with his antics, showing the Dems as a bunch of wack jobs but let's face it the majority of them are.

As sharp as they come. That's why she got fired from the Nixon impeachment proceedings. That's why the Rose law from records magically appeared (redacted) on her desk one day. That's why Vince Foster committed "suicide". That's why Hitlery treats everyone who works around her as worse than an indentured servant. That's why she said she was "dead broke". That's why Hitlery said Businesses and corporations don't create jobs, except the one they created for her daughter (what the mafia would call a make work job). She is just so much smarter than everyone else.
I just hope her being "smarter than everyone else" catches up to her one day.

Lurking DUmmies reading this need to go back and ask Omaha Steve about the union complicity in cutting the throats of its members here in NH.

Quote
~snip~

After Brown cited the study in the debate and used it on the campaign trail, the New Hampshire AFL-CIO—an organization that, nationally, abandoned its members and workers nationwide during the Senate immigration bill fight by pushing for more and cheaper foreign labor—slammed him for citing the CIS study.

~snip~

Camarota and Karen Zeigler, the report’s co-authors, fired back at the AFL-CIO by detailing in a blog post how MacKenzie made inaccurate assertions.

"The research conducted by myself and Karen Ziegler is based entirely on government data used to measure employment — the public-use files of the Current Population Survey (CPS) — and the data come from the first half of 2014 (January to June), not 2010," Camarota wrote.

Camarota added that MacKenzie’s claim that Pew’s research doesn’t back up CIS is “incorrect.”

“I personally know many of the researchers at Pew, and I am unaware of anything they have published contradicting our analysis,” Camarota wrote. “Mr. MacKenzie's comments reflect the AFL-CIO's unwillingness to consider immigration's impact on American workers. If fact, the union actually supported the Senate's Gang of Eight bill last year that would have doubled the number of foreign workers allowed into the country at a time when so many Americans are struggling to find work.”

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/11/01/Shaheen-Right-Wing-Group-Pushed-Study-Showing-Nearly-All-NH-Jobs-Went-To-Immigrants-Over-Citizens

This article points out another thing which not only Shaheen, but also her Union Supporters lied about.

ETA:

Of course if OS would just like to answer these charges here with facts I am sure he would be welcome to do so but I doubt he has the nuts an guts to man up on this issue.  Most union types I have ever met are cut and run bomb throwers.  They never stand and go toe to toe.

Is Shaheen of palestinian descent ? Because if she is any negative reporting on her would be as out of bounds as...

in that same debate we had this:

Quote
Brown accuses Shaheen of "waffling" on the issue of Ebola travel restrictions.

"We can stop this in its infancy," he says.

"We don't address a disease like Ebola with common sense," we address it with research,  she fires back.
