It's time to bring up my favorite issue, reduce SocSec age to 50yr.
Raising the minimum wage is not the answer although needed, when productivity is not producing enough jobs for the adult population.

Technology is replacing workers faster than the population is coming of age, thus we need to provide a safety net at an earlier age.

You are one stupid sumbitch.

5. That's what I have been sayin for a long time.

Increasing the retirement age will have a negative impact on the economy IMO by creating a larger work force. Even worse a lot of people who work very physical jobs are going to develop a need for more government services as they will become disabled in addition to being elderly.

9. Wouldnt that bankrupt social security overnight.

If the life expectancy of a 65 year old is 84, if you lower the cap to 50 you would come close to doubling social securities expenses. Even removing the cap on earnings wouldnt come close to closing the gap.

11. That's a great idea

And I wish they would, but since they haven't, we 50+ year olds need a living wage. If you're 50 or over your starting pay should be at least $15.00 an hour. Let the government make up the $5.00 difference if need be if minimum wage is $10.10

29. 50 is ludicrously young.

Unless you figure at 50 you'd get about 5 percent of the payout at age 65. That might make sense.

Especially if someone goes to college and then grad school and doesn't actually enter the workforce until age 30. Do you really think twenty years of work will be enough to pay for fifty years of retirement?

31. Would this create opportunity? People don't just want checks, they want self-respect too.

As far back as people are they want something to do.

For a while they might go fishing, but soon they will turn on you.

Look around your cesspool, the only opportunity you DUmbasses want is to get a check for nothing and smoke dope all day.

Worthless parasites.

Seeing that I just turned 50 . . .

. . . I'm diametrically opposed to the DUmmie in the OP on this.

I want SS to be there for my parents.  They busted their collective fourth points of contact for my three siblings and I, so maybe it's time we did it for them.

Ask not what you can do for your country but what freebies your country can give you.

The average tax rate for the lowest quintile in the US is negative. The average tax rate for the same level of income in most European countries is about 40%.

I say let's make SS minimum age 50. If you decide to retire on your SS benefits at 50 you get $50 a month and are not ineligible for any other government perks until you reach 65 or become permanently disabled due to events you are not responsible for.

That is something the DUmmies think about when they want to go back to the 90% tax rate of the 1950's.  Everyone paid some taxes if they worked and had income. Even people making as little as $1000/year paid income taxes.

And nobody, but nobody--not even that rich old fart Joseph Kennedy--paid anything like 90% in income taxes.....in fact, because of loopholes, the rich actually paid a lower percentage than the poor.

Marjorie Merriweather Post, for example, with millions in income each year during the late 1950s, early 1960s, paid.....zero in taxes.  Not a cent.

That "90%" rate was a joke.  It was there, but nobody had to pay it.

I agree BFDU and with everyone else above.  EVERYONE needs some skin in the game.  When you can simply vote yourself a raise without any repercussions at ALL, it's time to do something.

Either those who pay no federal tax get banned from voting or they get some skin in the game.
