Never trust **ANYONE** who claims he or she will run government "like a business"
Businesses, at least the for-profit ones, are not run for the benefit of the customer. They are run for the benefit of the shareholders, i.e. the people who pay in and demand money back in return. The customers are the by-product in the equation. So in the "government as a business" equation, the general public (i.e. the customers) are not the primary concern. The primary concern are the special interests (i.e. shareholders) who pay to play.

It unnerves me to no end when candidates say that. Here in Florida, Rick Scott ran on it in 2010 and is running on it again in 2014, and we've all seen how that's worked out.

Now, I have friends from back home in Maryland who have fallen victim to land developer turned gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan's honey trap, whose promised the exact same thing.

If you know anyone who is thinking of voting for a politician because they think he or she will run government like a business, do not sit by quietly. Explain to them exactly how that works, and how it's not in their best interest to elect someone with that type of mindset.

Not sure if that should make a person laugh or cry.

Ralph Wiggum says never trust "ANYONE" who says government runs better than a business.  Ignorant DUmmy shit-heads. (Sorry, for language...long morning)

Uhm, aren't like 80% of the businesses in this country owned and operated by small business owners?  My business does not have any shareholders and if I don't keep my clients happy, they don't come back AND they tell their friends not to use my business.

Explain to me how that works DUmmie.  I think you've spoken like someone who has never seen the check before it's filled out to give to the employee.  Hell, you may have never even seen a paycheck!

And yet they insist we make "investments" in education, green energy, etc.

Real investments produce more money than was invested.

So, if Proglodytes are so good at investments why do we have to keep paying ever-increasing tax rates?

I must assume that you have to deal with competition.

The federal government...not so much, which sorta explains why they get away with wasting so much money.

The feds made 3 trillion in tax revenues for the first time in history and still remains 17 trillion in debt...no competition.

I'm sure that someone, somewhere would be happy to explain to me that the competition is the voting booth. Fair enough.

Career politicians, that's about as capitalistic as it gets no?

Edit: In case I didn't make it clear, government has not ever been run like a business and never will be. It's run like a monopoly.

DUmmies want to run government on the "DUmmie Business" model.....Take what you want, pay what you want.

Yeah, that'll work.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

At least running the government like a business makes more sense than politicians like Reid and Pelosi who use their positions to feather their nests.

You idiots really need to read up on your socialist leaders.
