Don't give a shitIf he'd planned an appeal to citizens before going to Congress for a vote, it MIGHT have been worth watching I'll wait til he makes a speech on a jobs program, rebuilding US infrastructure, adding a public option to the ACA...

grahamhgreen (13,414 posts) Thu Sep 11, 2014, 12:05 PM16. F. How do we pay for it? How much will it cost? How long will it take? What are the metrics forsuccess? Why is this issue more important than all of our problems at home?
hedgehog (33,564 posts)13. I watched it, and came away thinking it was a speech he didn't want to give.I think he has been handed a lousy situation, and a limited number of tools to handle it with. He has to be suspect of every piece of data that comes to him from the CIA, National Security Agency, Military Intelligence, etc. Is the information accurate? Does the report reflect the objectives of the people who assembled it, or is it as good a picture of the situation as he is going to get?
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
To paraphrase the Bard, "A tale read from a teleprompter by an idiot, full of the sound and the fury, signifying nothing."
Your right, he didn't want to give it. He only did it because his poll numbers suck. The lousy situation he's been handed is from his own making. Limited tools? Hardly...he just doesn't want to use them the way they were meant for. And as far as not trusting his CIA, National Security, Military, etc. probably has a whole lot of something to do with throwing so many of them under the bus.
