How I narrowly avoided disaster

I've been really poor this last month. I mean going to food banks, having cable cut off, emptying change out of old purses poor. But my pets have not gone without food. Out of the blue, Fed Ex shows up delivering an envelope. I open the front door and my sweet brother has sent me a 3000 dollar check. In my elation, I forget to lock the front door back. I leave to deposit check, go to the grocery store and buy groceries for my friend who is nearly as broke as I am but fed me when I was hungry.

I'm at her house, I get a call from the police. My front door was open and they went in and cleared the house. They then informed me they were going to take my dogs due to animal cruelty! I asked why. Well, they are eaten up with fleas. I talk them out of it and told them I hadn't been working but had just started back and was picking up my first check tomorrow. He gives me 7 days to get them to the vet and the shots up to date. I agree and was calling my cable company to pay and have cable back on when police call back and say they are going to issue warrant for my arrest for animal cruelty if I don't take care of by tomorrow.

I have a springer who is 15 and the officer said was skin and bones. I told him I go without food so my dogs can eat and they have food and water and the springer has no teeth. He said Rosco had hot spots. He said the house was hot. My AC is broken. I explained all this and said I was a member of the humane society. See where this is going? What if if had not had the money? I would have been arrested or had my dogs taken away. I would have police record that would prevent further employment. It would have been in the paper. So tomorrow I have an appointment at 5 to have the animals vaccinated and have to take paperwork to police by 10 AM Saturday. Which I had planned on doing anyway since I finally had some money.

Now I know why people become homeless. Perfect storms of beauracracy. The dogs are fed, watered and have shelter. But I was going to be charged with animal cruelty because of fleas.

1. Since when do cops give a poop about dogs?

I have to rescue the abused ones around my house.

3. The irony of the whole thing is that it would not have happened if I hadn't gotten a check.

Which I was going to use part of to buy flea medication. I have had to borrow money from friends for pet food.

It's amazing all these woe-is-me stories from the DUmp.  Never saw them until Obama got elected.

Yes,I know the DUmbass is lying about many things but notice how it wants everyone to believe how caring it is for its flea bitten starving animals yet the first thing it does is get cable TV turned on rather then care for them.

As Ron White said, you can`t fix stupid.

So plenty of money for a cell phone but not enough for basic pet care.  They should definitely take those animals away from her and give them to somebody who cares.

Drat the luck!  The crooks come by and try the doorknob on just the one day you didn't lock your door.  What are the chances?????

Who called the police?  The crooks as they were driving away??

Or am I reading it wrong?  Did the police happen upon the unlock door and just decided to go in to make sure as was well?

Yeah, there's a lot that's being left out . . .

Follow up on animal control ordeal.

I get home from my grueling job of dishing out slop for elementary schools babies and washing pans. I go out and check on my dogs to make sure they had food and water. They did.

I fill up the bathtub, put my poor old Springer in and bathed her with flea shampoo. I brushed her and she looked and felt better. The whole time my other sweet dog (rescue) was trying to lick the soap off her and whimpering. He is so protective of her.

Finally I lift both of them in the car and drive to vets office. Officer Trask from animal control was there. I grew up with the Vet (since like 2 years old. His mother and mine were best friends) and he comes out and starts laughing that I'm facing animal cruelty charges. He vouched for me with Officer Trask and I made the officer come to my car and look at dogs. He was satisfied and said no further action would be taken. I thanked him for bringing the situation to my attention and said I appreciated what he did for animals (although I wanted to puke on the words, but I also didn't want to go to jail). So now everything is groovey and I'm drinking vodka because every muscle in my body aches.

Oh good, that alcohol will most certainly help with the situation.  I'm sure the primitive was concerned that the cupboard was bare.

No food, but two flea-bitten mutts. Can you imagine the inside of that hovel?

If inside dogs are suffering, then the furniture and beds and carpeting must be seething with fleas.

So she carries fleas off to her job at an elementary school.

No, she probably screws drunks out of it (literally).

It's the only way she probably can get laid--the guy has to be a blithering drunken mess.

The DUmmie didn't need to wait and buy flea shampoo. Mix a little Dawn dish soap, some vinegar and warm water and mix well. It kills fleas as good or better than commercial flea shampoo.
