Cat Hoarding: A Dangerous Mental Illness
« on: July 15, 2014, 02:20:03 PM »
Psychiatrists call it "disposophobia". It's the compulsive hoarding of objects, generally animals, and in most cases it's women hoarding cats. I've seen such people many times over the years at DU. They talk of the swarms of cats at their abodes in terms of "animal rescue". It isn't "animal rescue", it's a serious mental illness. They hoard cats as a placebo against some traumatic condition in their lives that causes depression to the point of sociopathic dysfunction. They're deeply troubled people in need of help, professional help, yet they turn to websites like DU where people, in many cases other mentally ill people, do nothing but enable one another. They encourage further dysfunction.

People with obvious mental health problems are getting to be the rule at DU rather than the exception. At one time there were erudite people posting there, even DNC lawyers and upper level party functionaries, intelligent ideologues, but no longer. It's as if such people are afraid of guilt by association. They'll use the useful idiots at DU, but God forbid they ever sit down at the same table for lunch. It's gotten to be a banshee site for mental defectives and the terminally angry.

Anyway, here's a good link explaining disposophobia. So the next time you're over at DU hearing people talk of "animal rescue", you can be pretty sure they're suffering a debilitating mental illness for which they'll never find positive help at a place like democratic underground. That's kind of sad.

I think cats also represent "babies".  Just the fact that it's mostly women that do this, maybe it's some kind of need to "mother" something.

But yeah, hoarding is a mental illness, regardless of what it is.

I take it as a public service announcement, and an illuminating one, too.

As God and everybody else knows, franksolich doesn't hoard; if there's something which isn't a need for having a decent and civilized life, out it goes, into the trash.

True, I once had thirteen cats here--now down to two, because of most of them have died of old age since then--but no way in Hell did I go around collecting them.  They came here.

God compels us to accept all who come our way (I'm a dog person, remember, although I have no dogs), and I always looked at these cats as my getting brownie points from God.  They were neutralized and shot, and got three squares a day.  And this big old house out in the middle of the Sandhills was (is) not cramped; each cat had about the space of a tennis court, although they always seemed to want the exact same spot.

But I'm glad the infestation's about over.  I think I did my duty, and so time to quit.

Psychiatrists call it "disposophobia".

Not to be confused with discophobia, another made up term, but meaning an irrational fear of mirror balls and polyester.

"Intelligent ideologues"? Are you ****ing kidding me? Shit, Thomas, you may as well have posted a selfie with "I'm a DUmmy" written on your forehead with a Sharpie.

Remember, we've been around since the first day DU was on the Internet. The real DU was always the Democrat Party's holding pen for their Jimson weed eating nanny goats. They are the same wacky assholes who convinced the Underground Panther that she really was a male feline; who came up with GWBMIHOP to explain 9/11; believed that franksolich sneaked into the mail room at Johns Hopkins and stole their donation check for the red round sodomite, or convinced PayPal to freeze their donations, or something; and still insist that Al Gore was really the President of the United States.

What is your DU name, anyway?

Cat-hoarding nanny goats.  I'm trying to imagine the Far-Side rendition.

In the 10 years or so that I have been aware of the island of misfits, deviants, lunatics and idiots the fastest way to get thrown off is to post something rational and sensible.
