Dear old sweet Lu, hostess of the cooking and baking forum, seems to be battling a particularly virulent strain of the hookworm, and so a drone had to start the daily thread for the third day in a row.

What's for Dinner - Sunday, June 29, 2014

It's my last night in the US and I am having Popeye's Fried Chicken with red beans, cole slaw and biscuits!

And I will hopefully have a piece or two left over for the plane.

^^^going to Italy, in case one doesn't know; rented a fancy villa outside of Rome, the whole thing.

1. Going with saline, antibiotics, saline, then Metoprolol for desert.

Three times daily, home IV!

Just got the hookup extension for self admin yesterday, dependence on girlfriend was not easy on either of us for the last two weeks out of six, we aren't even in the same city.

LG is missing out big time!

Dinner, don't know, depends on if these people doing long overdue yardwork will ****ing finish the deal before my next brain attack!

Goddess willing, I'll go with smashed potatoes and soup, if I can find it, for dinner.

2. well, at least you have a sense of humor about it, NYC_Skip!

I hope your lawn people get things done. I know it is a nice feeling to get things back up to par when other things in life have prevented us from maintaining our homes the way we're used to.

Me, I'm not dining until late and when I do, I think it may just be something simple like stir-fry broccoli in spicy sauce. I was at a union meeting today where we had a buffet--lots of variety. Regardless, I pretty much stuck to my low carb plan and still had a great time (I had 1 tablespoon ice cream).

Enjoy your fave meal, cbayer!

3. Grilled baby backs

with a spicy BBQ sauce, pinto beans with raw sweet onion, and cole slaw.

I've been waiting all week to make this! Since I'm making a full rack, there will be plenty of leftovers. Yum!

<<<waiting to see what the great aunt has for supper, before deciding what to have.

Popeyes chicken is good stuff, and their cole slaw and red beans and rice kick butt, but I don't think that I would be eating it the night prior to a long flight, it has a way of doing bad things to your digestive system.

I wouldn't get tanked up the night before either, but I'll bet that's what she's doing.

That's at least an eight hour flight, probably more.

Heh.

They should go in their little boat. A month or two and they'd be there.

After weeks of rubbing the DUmmies' noses in her Italian summer plans, it's about time.

She's mentioned it more often than John F'n Kerry and Viet Nam. (He was there, you know.)

I must've killed that thread.

Sorry.

But I fail to understand why the primitives are so reluctant to post on threads brought over here; it's not as if we can harm the least little hair on their heads.

4. Steak and chicken shish kebabs grilled at my sisters'.

Salad, wild rice blend, rhubarb crisp for dessert.

Have a save flight! Enjoy your chicken.

Hmmmm.

That's odd, very odd.

It's too damned hot and humid out here in the Sandhills, and as the great aunt was late in responding so I could figure out what to have for supper, I went ahead and had a whole quarter of a rhubarb pie, washed down with a two-thirds-full half gallon of whole milk before great aunt showed up.

Yes, Popeye's is good stuff.  Haven't had it in a while--the nearest one is about 15 miles from here.

Really?  I got the impression she traveled on the cheap.  Are you sure it's not a villa used as a hostel?

Uh no, they don't travel on the cheap.

And as for the villa, she's described it a couple of times.  Comes with servants even.

Must be nice to have that kind of cash to spend the summer in Italy. Then again. I was there for a year and a half thanks to Uncle Sam
