Left my cooked quinoa out overnight. Is it safe to eat it?

I'm so sad. I cooked up some wonderful organic tri-color quinoa last night and forgot to put it in the fridge. It stayed out all night in Los Angeles temps. So... probably low 60s inside overnight, covered but not air tight.

I hate to throw it out... found an article about cooked rice that sounds like I should though.

http://www.abc.net.au/health/talkinghealth/factbuster/stories/2009/01/27/2475255.htm

I had to nadin it.

Quinoa (/ˈkiːnwɑː/ or /kɨˈnoʊ.ə/, Spanish: quinua, from Quechua: kinwa), a species of goosefoot (Chenopodium), is a grain crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, as it is not a member of the true grass family. As a chenopod, quinoa is closely related to species such as beetroots, spinach and tumbleweeds.

It is high in protein, lacks gluten, and is tolerant of dry soil.

Anyway.

1. It takes a good 24 hours in a warm, moist environment in the lab

and on optimal food sources to get a really good bacterial culture going.

Offhand, as long as it's not all dried out and there are no animal products in it, I'd just reheat it and enjoy it. Just kill any bacteria that might have landed in it with a quick steaming.

And remember, we've only had widespread refrigeration in this country for the last 60 years. Before that, stuff was left in a cool basement or root cellar or spring house covered with fly cloths, kept cool but not cold.

Or they fed it to the backyard hogs. However, things like roasts were kept for sandwiches in cool but not cold conditions and people survived eating them.

Reminds me of Lizzie Borden who said her last meal was some kind of stew made from mutton.   this disgusting stuff had been left out overnight.   her step mother and her father made her eat this--------No wonder she gave her mother 40 whacks and when she was done gave her father 41.

From what I've seen in other threads, everything a primitive cooks, needs to be thrown out.  :puke:
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I've had the misfortune of having quinoa twice.  The bugs will only aid in making the flavor better, because it can't really get any worse than it already is.

I've had the misfortune of having quinoa twice.

How in the world did the second time happen?

I remember the DUmmie who made quinoa with sautéed brussels sprouts for supper.  All the other DUmmies congratulated her on the delicious delicacy she made.

In some cultures bird saliva is considered a delicacy.

Indonesians have an interesting gourmet dinner of dead bats, some people from Laos import  live snakes for a feast.   A Corbra or other big snake is gathered from the rice fields in Asia, somehow get past the inspectors.

I asked a man from that area how they kill a dangerous snake. He said they grab it by the tail and whip it about to break his neck.    Just crack it like a whip.

I don't know if this man was pulling my leg so anyone here on CC that served in Asia, can either confirm or say Bull Shit to the story.
