Does anything remain of value in debating prideful idiots?

Like the dandelions in my neighbor's lawn, outrageous quotes by neocons pop up undeterred by Weed-B-Gone or common sense. At least with the former, you can make wine if you choose. Only whine remains of the latest from the mouths of Tea People and their designated "leaders".

It has been shown that facts will do little if anything to alter one's opinion on matters which have been defined by their ideology and world view. No amount of CO2 figures, geologic evidence, history or economic data will change views held close to the heart and reinforced by talk radio blather. In fact, studies have indicated that if anything, such views tend to become hardened against the evidence.

So what is to be gained by posting the daily screeds of the Bryan Fischers, Glenn Becks, Sarah Palins, or the latest Tea hero wannabe from the Oklahoma Statehouse or the pulpit of the Church of Drooling Morons? You may want to argue that we must know what is being said by The Other Side in order to compile the arguments that will drag their followers back to the Light Side. This is, quite simply, beyond wishful thinking. There exists no evidence that those enamored of ignorant philosophies and ideologies have in any significant numbers decided to abandon flaky thinking in favor of science and reason.

Yes, there is often humor to be found in the latest verbal belch from the radical Wrong. But the childish nonsense has simply become far too predictable. The Onion has even itself spoofed the idea that it remains relevant in the face of the overwhelming outpour of unbelievable knee-slappers from the Right, not just from Beck et al but from Huckabee and other elected officials.

Maybe it's time to take a break and let the screeching toddlers just wallow in their dirty diapers (hi, Dave!) in the next room without feeling the need to rush in with every outburst.

Just my two cents.

Ms. Hindenberg's the first to line up:

1. They certainly managed to kill off the satire business

because no matter how over the top a satirist goes, the idiots usually manage to top it the next day.

And no, I don't bother with trying to educate the ineducable. The most they get from me is a "You bought that?" and a chuckle as I walk away, twirling my left inex finger next to my temple.

And then a candidate to replace dear old sweet Lu as hostess of one of the smaller forums:

2. You may be onto something there.

In my experience, the more evidence you bring into a discussion, the more firmly they plant their heels and refuse to acknowledge proven fact. They regard ignorance as a virtue.
apres moi, le deluge

Milo Yiannopoulos "It has been obvious since 2016 that Trump carries an anointing of some kind. My American friends, are you so blind to reason, and deaf to Heaven? Can he do all this, and cannot get a crown? This man is your King. Coronate him, and watch every devil shriek, and every demon howl."

Abrupt, condescending, and dismissive.  It's all a bluff, deep down the defrocked warped primitive knows that she's wrong.  The phony lying POS used car salesman Barry uses the same tactics and he isn't fooling anybody anymore either.
We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.

Sounds like the DUmmy in the original post has been listening to far too much of Bill Maher, Keef Olberdork and the like.

No, DUmmy.
We will not stop fighting you.
We will not accept your lies as fact.
We will not give you power over us.

Just to make sure...these are the same people that say extending unemployment payments create jobs and food stamps make an economy grow aren`t they?
