At her age, and with pancreatic cancer, Ruth Ginsberg should have retired by now.

If the Senate is taken by the Rethugs this fall, Obama will never be able to get someone like her approved again.

Obviously, it's her choice to go for another few years. But in exchange for those few years, we're likely to end up with 30 years with her conservative replacement. Whatever her legacy is could be torn to pieces.

One place where the DUmmies are hoping and praying for death panels...

is almost too much to bear. If that happens, I think, the blame should be put squarely on her.

Yeah - hurry up and resign (or die) already!!

Nah - don't worry about it when we do it, just worry when the evil reTHUGS do it.

6. It is, but so is the truth.

Ginsberg should retire for the good of her country and her deeply held values.

Now we like values and deeply held principles

13. The problem with lifetime appointments is lifetimes tend to last a lifetime now

Then again, I had no complaints when Stevens outlasted Bush.

Ginsburg, however, seems to willfully ignore the context of all that when she points to Stevens as a model/example of why she's staying on the bench. Plus she has had two bouts with cancer since 1999, including pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The job is most likely what keeps her alive, but her decision to carry on puts the issues she cares about at risk.

Terms should be capped at 20 years, IMO.

Now we like term limits...

These are the jerks that accused Paul Ryan of shoving grandma over the cliff in her wheelchair.

That would make for an excellent political cartoon!

If she drops dead soon after the GOP takes the senate I shall take it as a sign from On High that God hates liberals.

These DUmmies make it sound like a foregone conclusion that they will lose the senate and that Hillary will lose in 2016.

What difference does it make if it is (a foregone conclusion, I mean)?  :naughty:

They really are vile people. I'm happy that God punishes them with their hatred, BMI, and overall lot in life.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Ideology brings power.  That's all that they want--power over everyone else.

I wouldn't put it past Obama to use his pen and phone to install a replacement on the SC without senate approval.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I wouldn't put it past Obama to pull an FDR and use his pen and phone to increase the size of the USSC to fifteen without congress.

When FDR floated the idea of packing the Court, he ran into strong opposition from his democrat allies and the rank-and-file.

Does anyone think today's democrat party would oppose hijacking the government like that?

And anyway, the only thing keeping the muslim from getting anything he wants from the Court is the continued survival of five old men.

If any one of those five old men should die, he'll put another far-left woman onto the Court, and its philosophy will be set for the next thirty years.

Repukes would stall for a while, but eventually the public pressure to fill the Court would become too strong to resist.

That's by far the most important thing about 2016. If the Hildebeast wins, we lose the Court for the rest of our lives.

Well, there is the high speed lead solution.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
