Since the old DU seems about ready to crash, its contents shattering in bits-and-pieces to the far ends of the internet universe, it’s appropriate to show what the cooking and baking forum was like, in its glory days.
The first illustration, below, selected at random, shows the range and variety of primitives who once hung around the cooking and baking forum--my God, even the single-issue Wills, the “William769†primitive and Ms. Ed, the unappellated eohippus, the “Horse With no Name†primitive, hung around there.
Ms. Hindenberg, the defrocked warped primitive “Warpy,†injected her wisdom and nasty-assed attitude in the forum on a daily basis back then, but sad-faced moon-face was mostly a commenter, not a poster of original topics.

Despite that allegedly high number of “subscribers,†the cooking and baking forum rapidly went downhill on the new DU, probably because of the sheer apathy and laziness of dear old sweet Lu, who thought that as hostess, all she had to do was sit on her ass all day long while drones did all the work, the posting and commenting.
No comment:

Mrs. Alfred Packer, the hippywife primitive, was the spirit and soul of the cooking and baking forum until the new DU came along, and hippyhubby Wild Bill made her give up hanging around Skins’s island, because she was paying attention to her fellow primitives, instead of to him.

One has to give poor stupid Beth some credit here; when she was on Skins’s island, she was not only active in promoting scams in General Discussion; she contributed a great deal to the smaller forums. In fact, she was the one who kept the now-moribund “rural life†forum hopping.

The cbayer primitive has always been a rarity, a primitive who
really cares about Skins’s island. She’d be the ideal hostess for the cooking and baking forum, excepting that she was moderator of the old DU and always got a lot of flak from pissy sour-assed malcontented primitives, and is probably tired.
