13. Murdering someone for murdering someone?
I'm sure the Taliban would approve.
Really? This person had 16 YEARS worth of appeals. I'm pretty sure that justice was served in this case. In the case of the Taliban you DUches seem to love so much, the criminal would be dead within a week. I don't agree with the so-called 'religion of peace'. Due-process is nonexistent in those countries.
Getting back on the OP, I won't shed a tear for her loss and would not hesitate to have someone else be executed who has been tried by a jury of their 'peers', and run through every possible appeal. If after all that they are still found guilty, then their life should be forefit for their crimes.
The reason that the death penalty should be used is not necessarily to punish the criminal, though that does happen with the method of execution.
The main thing that happens when the death penalty is instituted is that EVERYONE else in that society sees what happens when you don't follows the law, and that criminals are facing the ultimate consequence for their actions. Especially heinous crimes like seem to happening frequently these days. I wonder why that might be? /sarcasm
