Sorry for my mostly awol state this month...

It's been both really horrible, and also really awesome at times.

Two of my sisters came to visit early this month and it was wonderful to see them. It had been a few years since we were all together. I passed along a family ring that my mother had given to me, to my sister on her birthday and she was thrilled. Such a joyful day!

Unfortunately, my doc had tried me on adderall for extreme fatigue a few days before they arrived and by the time they got here, I was in major pain from a reaction to a dye in the tablet. NOT fun... and I've spent the month trying to get back to where I was before the pill. Isn't it funny how things don't seem quite as bad as you though they were when something happens to push you even farther down a painful path?

Anyway, I loved having my sisters here!!! We had a great visit. The other not so great part is that my wonderful nephew is finishing a round of chemo due to the return of his cancer, and about to go through a bone marrow procedure, so part of the reason for the visit was to bring Bill and I my sisters two cats and a tiny adorable chihuahua for an indefinite period of time while she is on the west coast with her son. We are all hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.

My other sister brought along her tablet PC for me to try, since I have been trying to decide what to buy after my last computer decided it didn't like me anymore. I've found that the tablets are perfect for me. Easy to use no matter where I am, since most days I really cant sit at my desk long enough to get much of anything done online, so hopefully I will be able to check in more often, after I order a tablet next week. It may not sound like a big deal, but it allows me to reconnect with the world again, and I was so happy to finally find a system that I can use on my good days as well as the bad ones.

So... it was great month on some fronts, and horrible on others. Thanks to everyone who started the dinner threads when I couldn't make it in. Hope this all makes sense! Not only am I medicine foggy, but I am trying to type this around two of the most adorable little k*****s I've ever seen. It's been a little tough getting my two spoiled felines adjusted to the addition of two more cats and a dog, but other than an occasional skirmish, they are all getting along well.

Hope you are all happy and well. I'll try and read to catch up with everyone over the next week or so.

Sorry Lu, but not good enough.

You wanted to be boss of the cooking and baking forum, and you got the job.

Having gotten the job, you should do it.

Instead, you've relied upon all the ordinary primitives to do your work, but there's a definite lack of enthusiasm on their part; "she's the boss, how come she's not doing this?"

Family matters and illness are no excuses for laying down on the job, especially a job that demands only circa half an hour a day, to light a couple of campfires and make a few comments.  Those are hardly onerous responsibilities, and that's hardly any time at all.

The cooking and baking forum was once the most lively and animated of the "small" forums on Skins's island, Lu; now it's collecting cobwebs because you're never around, writing stuff to inspire the primitives to comment.

And we over here suffer too, for lack of good comedy inventory for the DUmpster.

Lu, you're a nice person--worlds better than the bitter hate-filled hippywife primitive Mrs. Alfred Packer was--but you need to sit back and ask yourself, "do I have what it takes, to be a leader?"

Well Frank, that seems to be a... need a word/phrase here and can't think of one at the moment, a "theme" for lack of a better word, that describes dummies and any type of task, important or otherwise. They always seem to fail. I sometimes wonder if they could boil water without screwing it up.  :cheersmate: :cheersmate:

I must say that when hippyhubby Wild Bill told hippywife Mrs. Alfred Packer that she had to leave Skins's island because she was paying too much attention to the primitives and not to him, I thought it was a good deal; there's no way any other primitive could've been just as vile and disgusting as Mrs. Alfred Packer.

When dear old sweet Lu was named boss of the cooking and baking forum, I thought, "yeah, that's the ticket; she's bubbly, she's effervescent, she's chatty, she's the hippywife primitive without her moral and intellectual flaws."

Oops, I was wrong.  Dear old sweet Lu is a nice person and all that, but she's no leader, she doesn't inspire.

Apparently dear old sweet Lu in her exalted position thinks of herself as the queen bee, who sits around while the drones do all the work.

Both traffic to and commentary in the cooking and baking forum have dropped disastrously.

It's because the drone primitives are tired of doing all the work, while dear old sweet Lu just sits on her ass.

You know, once upon a time, the sparkling old dude and the pie-and-jam primitive were two of the most prolific posters in the cooking and baking forum, but after dear old sweet Lu took over, they posted less and less.  Now they post there not at all.

I'm sure they visit the forum, but they don't comment.

It's easy to see why.  They see what's happening and think to themselves, "well, if dear old sweet Lu isn't lighting campfires and making comments, if she's not engaging with the others, like a good leader should, why should I bother myself?"

She's an even worse host in her Astrology, Homeopathy, Witchcraft and Chiropractic forum.

The group was set up back in December, 2011, and she hasn't started a thread since about February, 2012. Some host. Some leader.

One might question if she even believes in the supernatural.

By comparison, she's a hands-on full-time leader of the vicious old biddies in the cooking group.

Backyardchicken.com has some great recipes if you like majority southern cooking. The apple/ sweet potato/ chicken crockpot recipe is fantastic.

Yeah.

The witchcraft and sorcery forum used to be pretty active.....until dear old sweet Lu was put in charge of it.

Now, her sisters were visiting her, and it's near Halloween; I'm sure she couldn've posted a couple of topics there, about how many frog's legs or spider's eyes or gnat's tails one's supposed to put in a cast-iron cauldron sitting atop a fire.  I'm sure they talked about witches' brews and somesuch during that visit.

But no.....

Happily, I see that as of last night (Saturday night), dear old sweet Lu's taking franksolich's advice, and not only (a) just asking the primitives what's for supper without telling what she's feeding Pennsylvania-Dutch-farmer's-faced bewhiskered Bill, and (b) running away--she actually presented a blow-by-blow detail of what she was doing for supper, and hung around to get engaged with the other primitives.

Maybe there's hope, but man, she's got a long ways to go, to make up for lost ground.

I can't wait for Halloween morning to make some pumpkin waffles with candied pecans! Never made them before but it sounds tasty.

Does that mean you did include the kale?

More.

Dear old sweet Lu, who used to post and run like the big guy in Bellevue, hung around this campfire.

16. Did I read you were going to be offline for a while?

If so, I hope you have great travels! (I may have misunderstood though...little foggy lately!)

19. I have moved to Mexico.

I do have some internet access in my current location, but I'm not sure what I will have later in November when we move again.

20. very cool news! Congrats! We keep thinking about Costa Rica

If my health were better we probably would have already gone. We have lots of friends in the Puntarenas area.

I'd love to explore parts of Mexico too. Growing up in California, I started learning the Spanish in Kindergarten, and have always wanted to explore south of the border!

4. remember that Feliway will help k*****s get along

It's available in plug-in or aerosol spray. It mimics the pheremones that mama cats make to soothe k*****s. Extremely useful, and available at pet supply stores.

By all means, get the plug-in. Nothing like making your place smell even more like cats.

Poor addled grasswipe is fading fast.

Yeah, she is; the sooner she understands it, the better.

I suspect she deleted a campfire she'd lit recently simply because it was brought over here, and she probably ascribed malice to the act.  What she can't get is that it was actually an act of kindess on my part, so she'd quit making herself look silly.

One doesn't like seeing an old person looking silly, no matter who that old person is; we'd rather see dignity and decorum in someone so much more our senior.

It's obvious Judy's guardians--her children, her grandchildren, her adult great-grandchildren--don't like Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, hanging around on the internet, for this same reason.  They'd just as soon she busy herself in the kitchen, and when not in there, sit in a rocking-chair near the fireplace, reading the Scriptures to find solace about that which must come to all of us sooner or later.
