It looks like dear old sweet lazy Lu laid down on the job again, and another primitve had to do it.

what's for dinner - sunday, oct. 13
dad and the husband are basically rebuilding the front end suspension on the volvo today, so i'm treating them to a roast with carrots, taters and onion. i meant to bring the rest of the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, but walked out of the house without it >_<

1. Nice classic Sunday dinner you are doing.
Brings back memories.
I'm going to make a chile with chicken, a celery/apple salad and some cornbread.
^^^the eccentric English husband must still be gone, leaving the cbayer primitive stranded alone on the boat.

3. Just ordered pizza.
Too tired after my grade school reunion to cook anything. Came home and went to bed for a while.

6. vegetable patties and grilled pineapple
Oh, dear fizzgig, that is something I would do--make something nice and completely forget about it. I am sure, however, that they loved the pot roast. It sounds delicious. I was inhaling the aromas as I read your description.
Tonight will be a light night for me. Salad with my favorite dressing, which is orange pecan vinaigrette. Then some vegetarian patties from Trader Joes. They have an Indian flavor to them. I intend to grill pineapple slices to go with them. And the whole meal will be easy, too.
My experience with the pressure cooker yesterday went very well! I was thrilled that I could pull that off. The potatoes came out perfect! I almost got in trouble, though, as my Dummies instructions were for a six to eight quart pressure cooker while my little pressure cooker only holds a few quarts at most. Here's a pic of it. It's a Fissler VitaQuick:
after which a photograph of a pot
But I just "played it by ear" and tried to adapt the instructions. The instructions, for example, said to use something to lift the pressure knob but I saw that my pressure cooker had a lever-type thing to release the steam.
I'm excited about making more meals with this pressure cooker!

8. Small beef steak, pan seared, green beans w/ mushrooms and scallions, cantaloupe, w/ baseball game.
You know, this is pathetic; the cooking and baking forum on Skins's island used to attract a great many stellar primitives, such as Tangerine LaBamba, hippywife Mrs. Alfred Packer, the sparkling old dude, his airhead trophy wife, and the pie-and-jam primitive.
They were some of the top--and funniest--posters there, providing the DUmpster with lots of comedy material.
But they're not to be seen there any more.
Of course, two of them have reasonable excuses; Tangerine LaBamba is no longer in this time and place, and hippyhubby Wild Bill forced hippywife to quit hanging around with the primitives, because that meant she was devoting attention to them, which he thought should go to him instead.
But still, that doesn't explain the absence of the sparkling old dude, his airhead trophy wife, and addled Judy.
I suspect they lurk there, but when they see dear old sweet Lu, ostensibly the "leader" of the forum, sitting on her ass instead of posting, they figure, well, if she's not going to post, why should I?
