DUmmy asking for advice for runaway daughter of a bad mother

Any advice for a mom of a 14 year old teen runaway? My coworker's teen aged daughter
fled a catholic charities facility in Minnesota 5 days ago and has not been heard from since. She is a vulnerable teen and her mother is beside herself. The teen isn't into drugs yet, but does have experience with alcohol. Since the teen was under the guardianship of CC she doesn't have a cell phone.

My coworker is mad with worry but her missing daughter has been met with nothing short of indifference from local police and the catholic charity facility who was in charge of her daughter. How can a care facility not be in any way responsible for or even interested in the whereabouts of a child in their care?

Anyone have any experience with this? Any advice? Thanks in advance for any help.

Allow me to translate: "My friend is a bad mother and either gave her daughter away or had her taken away. The distraught kid has now run off. Now what?"

Of course the DUmmies are full of sage advice:

Police move slowly on runaways because they often come back. But for CC to be so cavalier is pretty

The authorities need to step up. After 5 days, the girl is clearly not

Reply Thanks. It's shocking how little regard the authorities have for this girl.

Why wasn't the girl living at home to begin with?

She has a mother who loves her dearly. She is a vulnerable teen.

Sounds like the DUmmy, er, mother didn't want the kid anymore but is all butthurt that the kid ran off. Better blame Catholics...

Allow me to further translate: "I'm a bad mother and had my daughter taken away. My distraught kid has now run off. How can I scam some money from the state?"
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The message would still be there, if that were an accurate translation. :whistling:
